Players look at the game on a night in night out basis where fans tend to lean on averages and bigger pictures. I understand Chuck because doing that every single night without trying to save some for the playoffs or cruise is legitimately crazy. I dont think anyone would argue that lebron doesn’t take nights off despite putting up numbers. This just says how relentless a player jordan was. Despite how impressive lebron has aged hes lasted this long in part because he picks his spots instead of charging 100% the entire game especially in the regular season.

It’s because we’re in a 3pt shooting era now. Teams and players actually scored more when the emphasis was more on getting to the hoop and mid range. Now teams are jacking up 50 threes per game and only making like 17 of them so the possessions are faster and a lot less efficient.

I think part of this story is that scoring has never been what makes LeBron great, despite his monumental scoring numbers.
Jordan was also a complete player, in a different way than LeBron is.
