Denver Coach Michael Malone On Mike Brown’s Firing: “When you win, it’s Fox and Sabonis, when you lose, it’s on Mike Brown. That’s how it works… I’m not surprised he was fired because I was fired by the same person.”
They did Mike dirty by informing him the way they did. No class and no balls is spot on.

I kind of love Michael for this. I see a lot of people (maybe deliberately) misconstruing what MM is saying by ignoring that he’s talking about *how* they fired MB.
There is such a thing as having dignity and respect when firing someone. It is a business decision to fire someone; but the way you do it makes it personal and disrespectful. That’s what this was and it didn’t have to be. It costs literally nothing to fire someone but do it in a decent way.

You see the same rationale on r/nba it’s literally always the coaches fault to some “fans.” They don’t know how to watch games. They act as if coaches are telling players to turn it over, brick shots, etc. Coaches can draw up amazing plays but players still need to execute.

Malone’s firing was super stupid too. The team was clicking and Boogie went down with meningitis and of course the team struggled. Made no sense to fire him at that moment.

One thing you can guarantee about Malone, he’s going to tell you how it is in his eyes. He’s regularly right, too, at least in my opinion.

I’m surprised he got fired so fast, called out fox last game so maybe he knew about it. I just hope he was informed. Management always blames coaches first then players, then them. Billionaire Owners sit there and get away with whatever like Robert sarver for years.

When Malone got fired from the kings it was the most scapegoat BS ever. They likely would’ve made the playoffs that year but Cousins got viral meningitis and they took a nosedive. Vivek is a joke.

It was always gonna take some time for the Kings to click because they’re are at their best when they play at a fast pace, and Demar is not a fast paced guy. The fact they’re firing him 30 games into the season when such a huge adjustment needs to be made is kinda wild.

Coaches get fired more often for a bad job by the front office than when they’re actually doing a bad job.

I think it’s valid when the main issue this year isn’t that the team is bad. The issue is they aren’t closing out games and are having full blown clutch meltdowns. And the issue isn’t coaching it’s guys like Demar getting the ball square in his hands for an easy layup and bobbling it out of bounds. You’ve got 2 of the Top 3 Clutch guys from a few years ago and they are melting down in the clutch.

Brown got coach of the year 2 seasons ago and it was also his debut season for the team. He has also been a very well received coach in the NBA and also literally looks like a good coach if you’ve watched his coaching on YouTube. Sac has been an “on the rise” team for these past two seasons and I have a feeling that it isn’t a “coaching problem.” This feels like a major mistake.

They were legit just gaining some goodwill with the beam, now they throw it all away based off a panic play. “No class, no balls” is the perfect way to summarize

Its the life of a pro-coach…Shit at least they have guaranteed contracts, this is in all sports. Soccer managers have it even worse I’ve seen people fired after 6 games. I sometimes don’t understand what they are being hired for if they are getting fired that quickly.
Mike Brown had 30 games going into this season. But he’s been the coach since 2022. So that’s pretty reasonable amount of time its not like it was his 1st season. This is most likely trying to keep a player happy.

Why did this firing get so much backlash? It didn’t sound great but coaches get let go all the time. I’ve never seen so many other NBA coaches have something to say like this.

Kings leadership is a joke. They’ve fired so many good coaches at this point. The ownership is enthusiastic but horribly over involved.
This owner is the same dude that got really mad when their coach refused to play 5v4. He’s like a less successful Jerry Jones
