Isopropyl alcohol

Wd40 specialist degreaser

It’s not normal wd40, and it’s incredible at removing sticky, oily or tacky substances.

I’ve used it for cleaning caked on motorbike parts when they’re stripped down. It’s incredible stuff.

Going forward, they make workable spray that’s meant to be used with hot tools. Going in with a finishing spray before each curl makes it cake way faster.

2. **Rubbing alcohol**: Dampen a soft cloth with rubbing alcohol and gently wipe the barrels.
3. **Baking soda paste**: For tougher residue, mix baking soda with water to form a paste, apply it to the cloth, and scrub gently.
4. **Final wipe**: Wipe with a clean, damp cloth to remove any remaining residue and dry thoroughly.

The Hidden Dangers of Dirty Curling Irons: Why You Should Clean Your Curling Iron Regularly

Curling irons are a staple in many women’s hair care routines, allowing us to achieve the perfect, bouncy curls that frame our faces. However, many of us may be guilty of neglecting to clean our curling irons regularly, leaving them covered in a buildup of dirt, oil, and product residue. But did you know that dirty curling irons can have serious consequences for your hair and even your health?

The Consequences of Dirty Curling Irons

When you use a dirty curling iron, you’re not just risking damage to your hair, but also potentially exposing yourself to harmful bacteria and germs. Here are just a few of the consequences of using a dirty curling iron:

  • Hair damage: A dirty curling iron can cause damage to your hair, leading to split ends, breakage, and frizz. This is because the buildup of dirt and product residue can cause the hair to become tangled and knotted, leading to breakage and damage.
  • Infection: When you use a dirty curling iron, you’re exposing your hair and scalp to bacteria and germs that can cause infection. This is especially true for people with compromised immune systems or those who have open wounds on their scalp.
  • Product buildup: A dirty curling iron can also cause product buildup on your hair, leading to weighed-down, greasy locks that are difficult to style.
  • Reduced performance: A dirty curling iron can also reduce its performance, leading to uneven heating and poor curling results.

Why You Should Clean Your Curling Iron Regularly

So, how can you prevent these consequences and keep your curling iron clean and hygienic? Here are a few simple tips:

  • Clean your curling iron after each use: Use a soft cloth or brush to wipe down your curling iron after each use, removing any excess product and hair.
  • Use a cleaning solution: Mix equal parts water and white vinegar in a bowl, and soak your curling iron for 30 minutes. Then, use a soft cloth to wipe down the iron and remove any buildup.
  • Dry your curling iron: After cleaning your curling iron, use a soft cloth to dry it thoroughly. This will help prevent bacterial growth and keep your iron in good condition.
  • Replace your curling iron regularly: If your curling iron is more than a year old, it may be time to replace it. Over time, the ceramic or titanium plates can become worn down, leading to uneven heating and poor curling results.

Conclusion

In conclusion, dirty curling irons can have serious consequences for your hair and health. By cleaning your curling iron regularly and following a few simple tips, you can keep your iron clean and hygienic, and achieve the perfect, bouncy curls that you desire. Remember, a clean curling iron is a happy curling iron!

Cleaning curling irons!!

I KNOWWW that these are gross and I don’t wanna hear it!!! These are both old but they work well so I’d really like to clean them to get use outta them, it’s all residue from hairspray I’m pretty sure. I’ve tried wrapping them tight in a hot wet towel to loosen the debris in the past (read it on another post) but it wasn’t very successful
