Old Geralts neck freaks me out
One thing to note is that the image of Ciri is not in game so it might look different. Geralt looks more gruff in the trailers compared to in game so things will definitely change.
W1 Geralt is most accurate to the books. Not that his redesign bothers me, it’s great the games became their own thing. But Geralt is supposed to be a very pale, skinny, unhealthy ghoulish looking dude.

I think Geralt is actually described as ugly in the novels. He wasn’t ugly in the first two games but wasn’t supermodel tier
I think CDPR knew that Witcher 3 was going to be even bigger and would be a lot of people’s first introduction to the series, so they purposefully made him more attractive to better appeal to players. They also gave him a beard in a lot of the marketing, even though in the books he says that he frequently shaves to avoid lice, especially on the road
I just realized what might be ‘wrong’ with new Ciri or why people thing something’s up. It’s the focal length, her face in the trailer is more distorted to convey depth, I think. If you’ve ever seen that gif of the guy cycling through multiple focal lengths on his portrait you’ll know what I mean
Wait so Ciri has undergone the trial of the grasses now? I thought she wasn’t able to? What changed?
Geralt had 3 games in the span of nearly a decade. Ciri been in a single game and cgi trailer. Can we really label this as evolution
When I watched that trailer she looked completely fine, this feels like we just cherry picked a terrible shot of her from the trailer to prove some point that I’m not even sure what it is
I understand Ciri is older, but it seems like a whole different person imo, not a fan.
Man, these comments are trying real hard to gaslight me into thinking Ciri’s new design looks good.
It really doesn’t. She looks like someone else entirely.
Why does the new ciri look so odd? Something seems off about her. It’s like her eyes are too wide and something’s off with here mouth as well, like it’s too big?

I find it bizarre how people aren’t allowed to criticise Ciri’s look in the trailer without getting bombarded with downvotes and name called “incels” or something.
She genuinely looks like she has botox or plastic surgery, which doesn’t fit the feeling or setting of the game.. Unless she got it done when she time travelled lol
Like.. Her look in the trailer isn’t even game footage too or footage of the actual game, I can guarantee she will still have her usual look within the actual engine and that it has had such a weird reception due to how the trailer has presented it.
Wouldn’t be surprised if the trailer itself was a rush job.
Even Geralt looked very uncanny in the Witcher 3 trailers but then was fine when the actual engine trailer stopped.
It’s just the same similar people arguing with eachother on if Ciri is pretty or not, like.. Y’all are so similar.

Why is grown up Ciri is so puffy?
Ciri definitely went through a downgrade, doesn’t even look like the same person.
Her W3 model is so good and iconic, it wouldn’t make sense not to develop on it.
Changing any other character’s face would be an outrage too.

If the bottom right didn’t have white hair then you wouldn’t even be able to tell it was Ciri.
I still like Witcher 1 Geralt because the books he’s described as scrawny and creepy looking. But I can’t deny that the Wotcher 3 model looks sick every time I play.

There’s something about new ciri’s face that’s uncanny and makes it look like an alien rather than anything close to a real human. I don’t know what exactly.

Witcher 1 Geralt looks like how I would imagine his unofficial inspiration Elric of Melniboné from Eternal Champion series would look like.
Old Geralt looks like the fuzzy part of the Q-tip or airpods if you remove his hair
Not gonna lie, I kinda like his old face.
In fairness to old Geralt, he’s supposed to be a little ugly. Just a little bit.
I think what’s causing friction for me is ciri in the game obviously looks like a female video game character, while the new trailer version looks like a human who was grown in a lab to replicate ciri if she were real.
I think she’ll look better in-game but I almost wonder if it’s simply the super realistic approach the character model has that’s making it look so off
Ciri looks like she just done couple plastic surgeries to look younger

I quite like Ciri’s new look, but I admit I preferred her old appearance. Maybe it’s just the mama bear in me who got invested in protecting her though lol
What seemed rough was her voice actress, I’ll say.

Witcher 4 Ciri doesn’t look even remotely like Ciri.
Ciri looks as if she been living in Beverly Hills driving a Range Rover between games.
