How many times has this been reposted since it happened in 2012?

This is the second time today I’ve seen this picture and story. I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but it seems like a pretty easy way to stoke anger toward women. It’s hard enough for victims to come forward in sexual assault cases. Feels engineered not just for karma.
It’s just weird that this is making the rounds today and this post is from a year-old account with no other posts or comments.

False accusations are so incredibly rare yet reddit treats it like the epidemic that actual rape is. Interesting.

This happened so long ago there was a major motion picture about it 5 years ago.

Ah, the incelnet’s favorite headline: “Woman lied about rape.” If only that amount of energy was used to target the assaults that happen exponentially more than the false accusations.

How was he convicted if there was no evidence against him?

This is extremely old news. Tragic, but old. I believe he did file a lawsuit against her.
To be clear, he wasn’t freed. He was sentenced to five years and did the whole five. He was later exonerated and had his record cleared and was no longer required to register as a sex offender. The accuser won a 1.5 million dollar lawsuit that she was ordered to pay back but that isn’t happening.

The sad thing is if you start going after the accuser it makes it scarier for actual victims to come forward. A big reason why victims don’t come forward is because they are afraid of the backlash if people don’t believe them. Imagine being a victim and on top of that having to pay your assaulter. What this woman did was disgraceful. Not just to the man but to all the victims that no one believes.

They need to bring in a law that makes the accuser face punishment because it’s so not right!
short: she’s on the run from money collectors now, thinking that if she spent all the money she’d not have to pay a dime of the 2.6 million back. he was cleared of all accusations in 2012, after she admitted in an interview that has been recorded and been played in court.
[here](https://www.historyvshollywood.com/reelfaces/brian-banks/)’s the faces of all actors of the movie on the left and the real people on the right side. press ctrl + f and type in “gibson” without “” to get straight to that criminal’s face.

As a former sexual assault victim advocate, this kind of thing makes me vibrate with rage. Every story like this just reinforces people’s confirmation bias about false accusations, which in reality are vanishingly rare, and makes it so much harder for actual victims to report their assault and be believed.
Please, please, please, to anyone reading this, do not let this feed your own confirmation bias. False accusations are not common. They’re really not even rare. They almost never happen.

>The young woman who falsely accused Long Beach football player Brian Banks of sexual assault is now facing legal action herself. Wanetta Gibson was a Long Beach Poly High student in 2002 when she sued the school for security lapses that contributed to her alleged rape. She has since gone on record to recant the rape claim, the alleged perpetrator Brian Banks has been exonerated, and now the school district, which paid her a $750,000 settlement and altogether spent nearly $2 million in legal fees, wants its money back.
The trouble now is that Gibson is nowhere to be found, and according to records she appears to be broke.

I looked up some stuff and apparently they can’t find the accuser all of sudden and even then the District Attorney is basically protecting her and not filing charges. Idk why Banks isn’t filing charges but this stuff is very fishy because usually accusers get away but winning a million dollars from a fake rape case doesn’t go unpunished. Apparently she blew thru everything and now they “cant find her”. She sued the school they went to not Banks because he didn’t went pro yet and didn’t have money.

Here’s the problem, how can someone be convicted of a crime via a trial, in which a jury or a judge had to be convinced beyond a reasonable doubt, if the crime never actually happened?!  That’s the flaw in our system. It’s he said she said.Â

Why is Wanetta Gibson’s name left off the headline and so far in the comments?
So, his accuser will face legal repercussions for ruining his life and wasting so many judicial resources, right? RIGHT?!

How is it so badly prosecuted as a crime where actual rapists go free in most cases and stories like this exist?
How could there be the evidence to put this man away for a crime he didn’t commit? The women lied but it’s more than her that failed him.
The accuser should get 2x his served time in prison.
sounds like it’s her turn to serve 6 years
