Take it from my country (Britain that I love). We voted out purely on immigration laws and putting the money into the National Health Service.
None of the saved money has improved the NHS, the anti immigration posters were mostly non european migrants. People voted to stop non European migrants… What logic is that?
Stay in the EU, not a perfect organisation but makes a continent stronger in the long run.

It’s just wild to me how decades of economic growth, free trade and free movement can be seen as something you want out of. Idiocracy went easy on society, reality is much, much worse.
And it’s true – I genuinely don’t give a shit about anything else this Christmas than my country to be truly democratic and that we continue our close ties to the EU and NATO. Yes, we’ve reached that point.

It’s usually the immigration aspect of it. I literally have no issues with legal European migrants.
My issue are countries like Ireland taking in refugees when country is at capacity. There’s no places to put them. The local hotel where I live kicked Ukrainians out because government no longer pays for it, many had to be transferred to a freaking monastery. Like what the hell.
Don’t take people in you have nowhere to put them. Otherwise don’t complain when they put up tents and live on the streets. And then guess what, our government destroys those tents.

I mean, you’re not trying to imply that the EU and Europe are the same thing, right?

You have an example of what that reality might look like. Brexit Britain.
Now think again and tell me if the pain we endured on this island is what you want for you country.

Instead of gaslighting people, EU supporters could address concerns anti-EU folks have: LGBTQ rights (not supported by conservative countries like Georgia or Serbia), constant flow of illegal migrants outside of EU (not supported by many countries already in EU), economic issues, problems with integration (quotas for agriculture), slow action (unanimous voting is required).
Instead, it’s “Muh Russia, those who don’t want to be in EU are far right bought by putin, and everything we do is correct”. A childish reaction and no action. Stop calling everything you don’t like pro-Russian (although putin would utilize them in his favor).
The Union is going nowhere but down with it’s constant attempts to turn a simple agreement into a god damn country.
The european union is NOT a country for gods sake.

The biggest anti-European movement has been the US for some decades now, basically since we have the Euro.
I don’t like Putinism and his ruthless ways but the the guy is right about one thing the continent is Eurasia and it scares the shit out of the US because it’s a lot bigger.

So American here (but currently working in Europe) can someone explain to me why so many countries are having anti EU sentiment (besides the Rashist propaganda machine)? Like no offense to y’all but it seems to me that the best bet for European countries going forward is an interconnected Europe. Especially with what my country has just elected and the Russian and Chinese regimes expanding into Central Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

I cannot have EU for Christmas. But a remake of the classic short film “Man hit in the groin by football” starring Nigel Farage would do.
Best thing that ever happened to my country.
