I expect a couple zero day viruses to be released on October 15th.

LTSC version is laughing

Lol, remember when they said Windows 10 would be the last version of Windows?

That’s for the regular versions. Win10 LTSC gets updates til 2028 and Win10 IoT LTSC til 2032.

Microsoft to users with fully functional, well operating older PCs: 🖕Buy new, poors. 🖕

wouldn’t mind upgrading to 11, if it weren’t for the hoops u have to jump through to make my hardware compatible

It’s only support, it will still run and work. When they dropped support for XP it was used for years after and people started doing custom updates and patches etc. Just MS will stop being present on the OS.

Windows 10 will go on for at least another 7 years before it actually shows its obsolency, it might not be secure as the security features are outdated but it’s Microsoft and Windows we’re talking about its not like you gonna run a US federal reserve server on an outdated Windows right?

I’d install windows 11 if it didn’t look like a big stinking pile of bloat

they colluded with hardware makers to drive up sales . lol..

Just to force people to upgrade their perfectly fine PC to accelerate sales of new hardware

don’t care, windows 11 is trash

Is there an alternative for upgrading to 11? Like Linux? Is it feasible for an amateur?

No worries, I have started using Linux mint, but will only use windows for gaming, whenever steamos comes to the desktop, in hopes it can replace windows for gaming, I’ll never need to think about Microsoft again.

People out here laughing in Windows 7

Ok but what does this really mean for a gaming PC that pretty much just uses Steam and has anti virus software

Like I give a fuck. My hardware literally won’t let me.

Weirdly enough my support for Windows ended beginning of February. I had fun setting up my OS (Pop_OS) for the first time in a long while.

So I guess I’ll just throw my 7700K PC out that I use for work. And my 3770K PC my nephews play Minecraft on. /s

Like, yeah, they’re ending support. My old hardware still works fine.

Really not happy with Microsoft in recent years. I have this VR headset sitting next to me, that if I didn’t hault Windows 11 updates would be a plastic paperweight. And the last Windows OS ever, is now ending because there is a new OS.

And yeah, I know Linux exists, but that’s just one headache for another.

Switched to Linux because of this, fuck you microsoft.

Best time to migrate to Linux

“The last OS we’ll ever release”

I refused to learn how to deal with another OS for decades but now I will try out a dual boot installation with Linux when Win10 support ends given how bad Win 11 is supposed to be. Way to support your competition, Microsoft.

For those on the fence about Linux, you can boot it off a usb drive and use it without installing it. You’ve got nothing to lose

I’d gladly upgrade, even pay, if they just listened to what people want.

What we want:

– an OS that work and runs programs

What we don’t want:

– being forced to be lab rats for your current experiment of the week that you’ll sink millions into before scrapping it (copilot, for example)

– having settings and files randomly shuffled around and hidden underneath layer and layers of menus with no rhyme or reason

– constantly having to browse forums and videos to find the solution to the random bug you introduce with every single update

– HAVING NO CONTROL OVER OUR FUCKING PC

Nvidia has Jensen. Microsoft has this guy.

Edit typo

I love this version of the multiverse. Did’nt microsoft state that windows 10 was its last OS ever to be created when they launched it and support would never end?

Hahahaha no. It’s still like at least 30% or more of the retail user base. They are stuck supporting it a lot longer.

Great now they can stop breaking shit with their updates

Already in the process of switching to Linux, specifically mint. I dont want to use Windows 11, and i will not have it on my pc, Windows 10 is already enshittified enough, and 11 is just worse

windows 11 didnt support my previous pc even though it had a perfectly fine CPU for windows 11 (i5-6600k)

No it doesn’t. Hundreds of millions of people still use W10. More than W11. They’ll absolutely extend this otherwise they’ll be liable for damages we can’t even estimate. They need to wait until marketshare naturally drops to like 5-15% before they end support.

Best time to switch to Linux.

It will be extended, pretty sure

Wild too, because my machine is still fast enough to do anything I need, but I cannot install windows 11 on it because “Reasons.” I guess it’s going to become a linux machine.

The exact date I will be switching to linux as my main os

Oh, no! *Keeps using Linux*

Windows 10 LTSC, here I come.

Never forget, they will still be doing the work and offering updates, and at the very least, security fixes, for a long time. They *choose* not to serve them to home users.

Windows 10 Enterprise IoT LTSC remains in mainstream support until January 12, 2027, and in extended support until January 13, 2032.

To Pop!_OS I go!

i don’t see that being an issue for a while. it just means windows will stop doing all these dumb updates when I’m trying to turn the PC off!!!!

I have already fucked off to Linux and never looked back. Automatic updates fucking suck.

But I liked windows 10
