The Sun’s Golden Embrace along the Bay of Bengal: A Photographer’s Paradise by the Shore
The Western shore of the Bay of Bengal, stretching from Mumbai to Chennai, India is home to some of the most breathtaking sunsets any photographer would ever encounter. As the day approaches the golden hour, the shore transmutes into a dazzling canvas of warm, hues, and vibrant colors; an artist’s canvas laid bare for the photographer, to capture the sun’s descent into the Arabian Sea, beneath the watchful silhouettes of mangroves and palm grooves. In this fleeting spell, the photographer, donning the mantle of the seeker and beholder, yields her senses to the fleeting brushstrokes of this sacred moment.
Chhatarpur Beach: Basking in the After-Glow
One of those few beaches that the travel brochure would have had our way, Chhatarpur Beach, at Karwar, Karnataka, emerges as a prime choice with a 3km vast shoreline, where an aspiring photographer can indulge his photographic fancy. The tranquil turquoise waters, laced intermittently with the shadows, provide a perfect visual marriage, as the camera struggles to capture the colors cascading across the golden-hour landscape. The rustic villagers and fishermen, moving afoot, their fishing routines interrupted by the visual banquet that unfolds, and thus a photographer’s visual bounty takes shape.
Onambakkam: ‘Misty’ Marvel
Onambakkam Beach, in Thavalai, Tamil Nadu falls on the radar when tracing the golden hour around Kancheepuram by the Bay of Bengal coast, here photographer meets Mother Nature that harmonizes the rhythm. Bordered by the veli road, the shores exude a mystifying haze. The sun appears distant as the sky in reds, oranges and vibrant greens, the shoreline turns the golden hour from sunrise into a dream scene reminiscent of a painting or so an artist would express: this is the quintissential Onambakkam sunset.
Eidabad Beach: the Best Sunset Spot
It took 30 minutes or else I would have found few spots to capture at each time. Eidabad located on the shores of bay of Bengal, by Nagapattinam could easily be the "beach of the evening or so" for every vacationing photographer. Each visit yields a new opportunity due to the ever- altering clouds and the dynamic ocean colors. The morning hour or the evening – whether sun rises or it rests on the horizon for so the photographer’s artistic lens gets a chance of expressing themselves.
**As Dusk Descends…
It is the instant. This is the only answer photographer can give the photographers for the golden-hour image – the moment they call as the "afterlight." The sun takes another trip, and on top of the horizon at rest in the sea it starts descending. The atmosphere breathes a sigh and once the sun disappears we go away. The memories leave and the photographer who waits the next day has some fresh moments to snap while walking along the 500-kilometer (62) long Bay of the Arabian Sea. So they get the chance.
Photography is art.
For the photographer of visual artist, the 11- minute golden-hour (18:00, September, 2023 by Bay of Bengal is captured and the moment never lets him forget. With ever-altering clouds, he keeps the dynamic in sky.
