Feeling quite lucky that I love playing tank/support

Yup, had a game in competitive bronze 1 today. I was a tank, another a healer, and 2 people had selected DPS. Then the last two proceeded to pick DPS. Then the healer also switched to dps. And of course, I did too. And yes, we lost. Horribly.

I love playin support tbh.
I main Adam, and our cute little Shark friend but when my whole team decide to play dps and then cry about healing what am i suppose to do???
I cant heal 5 people as a single healer no tanks and a ironfist/spiderman in my face that simply get ignored by the other 5 players.
That are the matches where i say fk u team.

Yeah DPS is always gonna be the most popular role, but it might’ve helped if half the roster wasn’t locked behind DPS. This game is gonna get a ton of marvel fans in general to play it, and a lot of those players will start by playing their favorite heroes. But the way it’s currently designed, your favorite hero is most likely a DPS.
I don’t think we needed a perfect split, but support and tanks could use 2 extra heroes each so they’re at least competing a little better.

For me the solution is to introduce significantly more tanks and healers in a shorter time frame than they were intending. More variety would make it less annoying for me to queue healer or tank.

The thing is, I don’t mind being a flex player. I’ve been a flex player in pretty much every single hero/class-based shooter I’ve ever played—be that Overwatch, Rivals, Paladins, Battlefield, etc. But the problem is, I can’t play both a tank and a support at the same time, so you basically have to choose the lesser of two evils.
On one side, I understand not wanting to include a role lock, but on the other hand, how much fun can you really have if you’re being absolutely demolished by an enemy team because they’re using a proper “comp”? In many cases, people say, “It’s just QP,” but then again, I ask: how can you have fun when you’re losing 100%-0%, twice?
Personally, for a game like this, I’ll always be on the side of a role lock system. It doesn’t have to be like Overwatch where you queue with your role specified, but if 2–3 DPS have already been picked, that role should be grayed out.
Of course, Rivals itself also kind of enforces people to just play DPS heroes because there are literally more DPS heroes than tanks and supports combined. Most of the really cool characters that people love and want to play as are also DPS characters. So, if they don’t want to add a role lock, they should introduce more tanks and supports since we already have more than enough DPS heroes.

Does anyone actually LIKE playing tank/support? I play Magneto/Strange because I actually like those characters, regardless of how many DPS players are on the team lol.

I love playing Venom so I’m often the only one taking the tanking job. It can get pretty rough when there is only one healer as well.
I just have to sigh at the end when I’m top damage with numbers equal to 2 DPS on the team combined or more.

It’s really annoying, one of my fav characters happens to be a DPS and I would just really like to play with them, and get better.
As soon as I enter a team, I try to confirm him as my choice hoping that people will see and adapt with their choices. Nope. 6 DPS. I always end up feeling shit and in the end, change to heal. But I am so tired of it cause I don’t MIND playing heal but after like 10-20 matches of healing, I just wanna shoot with my favorite dude too.

I just played a game where I’m the only tank. I have to play cautiously as I am up against two tanks, and we have 1 healer and 4 dps.
I was flamed for being 0-3, told I should swap off dps (lol). So I just swapped to dps and did better in terms of kills. Then, I got flamed for not playing tank. But yeah, please tell me how a role queue is a bad idea.

I had a game where I was Thor, everyone else were DPS. Yes, 5 DPS and 1 tank, no healer. After a few minutes of losing hard, I just went magik for the full 6 DPS strat. And we eventually did it! Against all odds, despite what everyone thinks, we lost badly! Fun game that was

I think the devs have a huge advantage. TBH I think people are more interested in characters rather than the role. They can get more people to play Tank or support just by putting new characters in those roles. There are so many duelists and most of the iconic characters are duelists. Some characters should probably be tweaked to be tank or support like Wolverine or Namor for example. I hope they even out the ratio of dps to tank and supp eventually.

Releasing with 18 dps characters vs a handful of tanks and healers was a really weird decision.

I do flex most of the time and only get to do dps in like 5% of matches.
However, I don’t really get how this works if you want to change up things. I’ve been in some neat games where we were going 2-2-2 and then switched to 1-3-2 or 2-1-3 as needed and got to a win. I’ve switched from the tank to a healer and saved the game.
I like that flexibility. I think I’d be cool with maybe some minimum reqs but I really don’t want that flexibility to go away.

The problem is that dps have twice as many chars as the other roles for no reason; OW is in that situation because 2 roles were merged into one and ever since it tried to balance the numbers
Rivals should have launched with 11 heroes per role if it didn’t want to be in this situation

Well I’ll still play support because I like the characters and tank when I feel like it, if the game developers are going to Pander to the DPS install locks I’m going to just go with it. If the team is actually trying and has a decent comp I’ll do my best to support them, if we have 4-5 DPS I’m just going DPS too, I’m not wasting my time supporting people who just want to be selfish.

Okay then let me leave without being penalized, they’re free to run a dogshit comp and get slapped around for 10 minutes, I should be free to leave.
