Think that symbol means to ask an adult for help

Take a pin used for sewing, not a needle but a pin. Bend 90 degrees about 4mm from the tip. Used it to pry battery out from the opposite side of the tab

Turn it upside down and tap it on the table.

Gently pry the metal tab slightly up, get a small screwdriver, like from an eyeglasses repair kit and pry the battery up from the other side. If all of this is too much ask a handy friend for assistance.

Use something as small as a staple that will fit between the plastic ‘bumps’ on the left side, swist so the leg of the staple goes under the battery and gently pull. A pair of needle nose pliers will greatly aid with this maneuver.

Eyeglass screwdriver. Insert opposite the tab and pry it up. Do not try to bend that tab because it will break very easily.

Look around your house for anything that’s thin but strong to stick under the tab and pry it up and then pry the battery up.
Look for space to stick the pin 🧷 in and wedge the battery up. Looking at the photo there are some small spaces around the battery jam that pin in the side of one of those spaces.

Don’t touch the tab, I think you’re supposed to fit something like a toothpick, a clip or something to lift it from the grooves. The metal tab is just for contact and a snug fit for the battery

I would have used sudden deceleration.

Do people use their brains anymore?

Holy shit. Really? I have no words that could be helpful to you rn.

The eternal struggle of removing a battery from a device that seems determined to keep it safely tucked away. Whether you’re trying to replace a dying battery, fix a battery-related issue, or simply wanting to clean out a cluttered device, knowing how to remove the battery from your device is a valuable skill to have.

Before You Begin

Before attempting to remove the battery, make sure you’ve identified the type of battery your device uses and has the necessary tools to do so. For most modern devices, batteries are easily removable, but for some older or specialized devices, it may require some finagling.

Removing the Battery

The steps to remove the battery vary depending on the type of device and battery you have. Here are some general steps to follow:

  1. Power Down Your Device: Ensure your device is completely powered off to avoid any accidental start-ups or electrical shocks.
  2. Locate the Battery: Find the battery compartment or panel on your device. This is usually marked with a symbol indicating the battery is removable.
  3. Open the Battery Compartment: Using a small screwdriver, plastic spudger, or coin, pry open the battery compartment. Some devices may require you to slide or pop off a panel to access the battery.
  4. Disconnect Any Cables or Connectors: Identify any cables or connectors connecting the battery to other components and gently disconnect them.
  5. Pull Out the Battery: Carefully lift the battery out of its compartment. If it’s stuck, gently wiggle it back and forth or use a small tool to dislodge it.
  6. Release Any Tabs or Clips: Some batteries have tabs or clips holding them in place. Use a small tool to release these and fully remove the battery.

Additional Tips and Considerations

  • Handle the Battery with Care: Batteries can be fragile, so avoid touching any of the contacts or components.
  • Avoid Shorting Out the Battery: When removing or inserting the battery, avoid touching any metal components to prevent short circuits.
  • Use a Battery Removal Tool (Optional): If you’re having trouble removing the battery, consider using a battery removal tool specifically designed for your device or battery type.
  • Dispose of the Battery Properly: Old or damaged batteries should be disposed of according to local regulations and guidelines.

Common Battery Removal Challenges

  • Stuck Batteries: If the battery is stuck, try gently wiggling it back and forth or using a small tool to dislodge it.
  • Confused Connectors: Double-check the connectors and ensure you’ve disconnected them properly.
  • Inaccessible Battery Compartments: Consider consulting the device’s user manual or contacting the manufacturer for assistance if the battery compartment is particularly hard to access.

In conclusion, removing a battery from a device may seem intimidating at first, but with these steps and some basic caution, you’ll be well on your way to replacing, cleaning, or upgrading your device’s battery. Remember to handle the battery with care, avoid shorting it out, and dispose of it properly. Happy battery removal!
