I hate the greeting card industry. $7 for a card? It’s a racket

My husband hates cards and doesn’t appreciate them at all. I send him memes, they are free and he likes them way better.

The Husband banner at the top doesn’t match the cards in the section.
The individual card banners say: for anyone, across the miles, grandson, grandma, daughter. There looks to be only a few columns (3) of husband under the Someone Special section immediately next to wife.

Statistically speaking, women buy more Valentine cards than men. They just don’t usually wait until the last minute.

The wives bought the cards ahead of time so there’s time to restock the shelves. The husbands bought the cards at the last minute.

The ‘husband’ cards have very few options in comparison, most of which are dull, generic, or trying too hard to be funny. It’s just a really poor and disorganized selection.

GF baked me a cake with a message written on it, I feel like stuff like that is more womens style.

Wonder which behavior this highlights.
Could assume it means less women get card for their husbands. Could also highlight that more men may wait till the last minute.
… it’s option two isnt it.
Oh yeah, I need to go grab a card and flowers still….

the women probably bought cards for their husbands a week ago, not the day of or night before

I would rather my husband write me a sweet note on a post-it than spend $5 on a card. With a card, all you have to do is sign your name. With a note, you have to put the couple of seconds into finding something to say. Plus the idea of paying $5 for a piece of cardstock and a shitty envelope is ridiculous.

I buy subculture-specific valentines cards for my boyfriend on Etsy. Feels more meaningful than a card from Walmart. Once I did a homemade card, but now I feel like I don’t have time for that, sadly.

Zoom in on the labels, the overhead banner is not accurate. Unless you’re suggesting husbands include grandmas. The husband labels that are visible are empty.

Let’s be honest, do married men even want to get cards for valentines day?

Probably because they pre planned and bought early. At least, that’s how it goes at my house. You see me looking on 2/13 and the wife bought them as soon as the hit the shelves somehow

I’m so fascinated when I zoom in…first of all, all the cards under husband are actually for daughter/mom/anyone. The husband cards are under “someone special,” and there’s two different cards taking up 7 spaces. Also that whole bottom part is red envelopes with no cards.

Not to be that guy, but is there any edivence that women generally buy them in advance, compared to guys?

This could mean a few things :
1. The women care more.
2. The men don’t want cards.
3. The women bought their husband’s cards earlier.
4. There are a ton of lesbians and virtually no gay married dudes near you.
5. Valentine’s Day is more a holiday for women.
All in all, the data is inconclusive.

Overall, wives appear not to be buying last minute. (Or exclusively at eye level/first thing they see) 😂

Want to see the opposite? Go to a cigar store/lounge on Valentines. It’s nothing but women running in and asking what to buy.
