Either give it away as is OR pick a corner and whack it. Tempured glass has insane stress at the corners.

No idea if it’s a disposal issue or debris issue. Either way, shower doors are tempered glass, and should shatter into tiny pieces like a car window. You can mitigate mess a good bit by running to Home Depot a picking up a roll of self adhesive plastic carpet protective covering. It’s like a giant roll of 24” wide tape. Tape both sides, lay it flat, and go to town with a hammer. After it’s shattered, you can basically roll it up like an old rug. Of course they’ll be some mess, but it’s a hundred times cleaner than trying to break it on its own.
Of course the free way is to completely wrap it up in a bedsheet and then break it. Followed by a decent shop vac to clean up the mess.
Good luck.

Do you have a tile floor? Those are notorious for breaking tempered glass panels on computer cases. Just touch it to the tiles.

Most people have a Dimond ring.. or a hammer… or crack a spark plug on the ground and use a piece of the broken ceramic to crack it(what vandals do to car windows)
