Metal legs? Sand it so the paint will hold and you can spray paint. Clear coat and you’re good to go

Sanding and spray paint as others have mentioned.

But, for another option, consider the possibility of a vinyl wrap. I’ve used some with a very convincing wood grain to match adjacent cabinets.

Opens up more colors and pattern options, less skill involved. It’s also not permanent.

3m vinyl wrap could be easily applied

Okay so I should try first sanding by hand and then if it isn’t working the best use a sander (I have one already just checking)

Color changing paint?

Embed LEDs using epoxy?

Use only single color lights in the room and blackout the window?

These are ways, probably not the best ways, might be best to listen to u/Frogski

Yeah id just be using Con-Tac paper

How to Change the Color of Your Standing Desk: A Step-by-Step Guide

Are you tired of your standing desk’s dull color? Do you want to give your workspace a fresh new look? Changing the color of your standing desk is a simple and easy process that can be accomplished with a few basic materials and tools. In this article, we’ll guide you through the process of changing the color of your standing desk, whether it’s a manual or electric model.

Materials Needed:

Before you start, make sure you have the following materials:

  • A standing desk (obviously!)
  • A new color of paint or finish (choose from a wide range of options, such as wood stains, solid colors, or metallic finishes)
  • A paintbrush or foam roller (depending on the size of your desk and the finish you choose)
  • A cleaning solution (if you plan to remove old finish or paint)
  • A rag or paper towels
  • Optional: primer, if you’re changing the color of a stained or dark-colored desk

Preparing Your Desk

Before you start painting, make sure your desk is clean and free of dust, dirt, and oils. Remove any objects, cables, or accessories from the desk surface. If your desk has a particularly stubborn stain or old finish, use a cleaning solution to gently remove it.

Choosing the Right Finish

There are many options when it comes to changing the color of your standing desk. Consider the style and color scheme of your workspace, as well as your personal preferences. You can choose from:

  • Solid colors: A flat, single-color finish that provides a clean and simple look.
  • Wood stains: For a natural, warm look, wood stains can be applied to exposed wood surfaces.
  • Metallic finishes: Add a touch of elegance with metallic finishes, such as chrome or copper.

Applying the Finish

Once you’ve chosen your new color, apply the finish according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Typically, you’ll apply a thin layer of primer if you’re using a bold or dark color, or if you’re covering a stained or dark-colored desk. Allow the primer to dry completely before applying the finish.

If you’re using a solid color finish, apply it evenly and smoothly using a paintbrush or foam roller. Start at one end of the desk and work your way across, overlapping each stroke slightly to ensure an even coat.

Additional Tips and Considerations

  • Make sure your desk is completely dry before applying the finish. Moisture can cause the finish to chip or peel.
  • Apply thin coats of finish, allowing each coat to dry completely before applying the next. This will help prevent drips and unevenness.
  • Consider applying a clear coat or topcoat to protect the finish and make cleaning easier.
  • If you’re changing the color of an electric standing desk, be sure to disconnect the power cord before starting the painting process.

Conclusion

Changing the color of your standing desk is a simple and affordable way to give your workspace a fresh new look. With the right materials and a little bit of elbow grease, you can achieve a professional-looking finish that matches your style and office decor. Whether you choose a bold, bright color or a natural, subtle finish, the possibilities are endless.
