New England has few firearms, lots of wealth, and many Chinese individuals and firms that make it a desirable place to drop (if such a place exists). Atlanta has none of these advantages.
The idea of the gangs and violent criminals in Atlanta fighting to protect their homeland against a foreign invade to redeem themselves is kind of a cool one.
The idea of any country invading the mainland of the United States even during war is not impossible but very improbable. China and America, even as they become more and more at odds, are also more and more economically integrated. It isn’t likely something specifically like this, with all the red dawn catharsis involved, would ever happen
No disrespect to my Southern Brothers and Sisters as I am sure they’d have their fun but dropping in the wrong spot in New England is going to be just as bad if not worse. Drop in southern New England you’re probably fine, but as a Mainer I can tell you we’d be the American Equivalent of Vietnam. 17.5+ Million acres of woods, 31,752 miles of rivers, 14,000 miles of off road trails, 6,000 lakes and ponds, 3,000 miles of coast including 4,600+ costal islands and everyone has access to a snowmobile, atv, fishing boat, canoe/kayak, about half of us are gun owners and nearly all of us have massive outdoor survival skills all with six months of winter? At least in the South they’ll just shoot you and be done with it, up here you’ll have to hike through the wilderness, in a blizzard, through water, just to get run over by a snowmobile playing fortunate son.
Historically New England has a better record fighting off its enemies than the south does.

Being dropped into certain areas of the United States as part of an invasion would suck. Especially in Red States where 50% plus of the country is just looking for a reason to use and justify their guns.

gangs in atlanta have long controlled major ground in the city. these gangs are in shootouts quite often. no doubt the city of atlanta would defend itself well in the case of an invasion

Northern New England during the winter would probably suck most. Cold and snow and I can assure you Vermont, NH and Maine are packing.

In my humble opinion, I could see a quick week’s worth of training for militias from the National Guard. And they would probably hand out fire arms and enlist them as irregulars, mostly for garrison. And or rear line duty to free up more highly trained troops for combat. Partisans would also probably form in occupied territory. Would be more about covert tactics like French resistance. But that’s just an opinion based on what happened in the curent ruso _ Ukraine War.
