I also join the firefox wagon after they disabled Ublock.

Left as well after the Ublock Origin business. Tried Brave but had some annoying bugs with a few sites i’m using a lot. For now, Firefox is pretty good

People are posting about switching to firefox the same way people post about switching to Linux.
Firefox isn’t a big change. I’ve used it as my primary browser for most of my life and haven’t run into any problems.

I’ve used Firefox since 2006, it has always been reliable, I’ve tried chrome for a bit, used IE wasn’t good at all, Edge isn’t too bad but seems to randomly time out so you have to restart it all the time.

I jumped on Zen Browser, which is Firefox-based, after using Arc (Chrome) for the longest time. It’s not as polished and smooth as Arc but it offers 99% of the same experience. I always wanted to use Firefox but the vanilla experience was just not for me.

Why do people act like it’s a big decision to switch browsers?

After switching to FF I noticed the feel of scrolling isn’t as smooth compared to chrome. Does anyone have the same thoughts as me? Or am I missing some setting?

Congrats. Recommended to keep Chrome installed as a backup. Some websites don’t play nice with Firefox, and that’s not Firefox’s fault.

Poor timing, I think. Firefox just changed their privacy policy, which has made a lot of people quite worried during the last week.

Used FF for 20+ years (since beta) and chrome since around 2010-2015 (somewhere)
Recently swtiched to chrome as main browser due to too many incompatibilities and overall performance issues (maybe 2-3 years)
Been using both and let’s be honest chrome has been getting worse slower than FF has been getting worse, FF started as no data, no contract, fastest experience, maximum compatibility etc… and they were good at it.
Today FF is just a shell of their past glory, compatibility is getting worse and worse; data and privacy: let’s not start a thread here; speed and optimization: whats that ?
I’m a webdev company owner so my usage might differ from the average computer user but my arguments are to my beliefs quite relevant for the majority of users.
I’m waiting for a new browser with its engine not based on webkit, gecko or chromium; it’s been too long since the sphere was shaken, last time it was was when Firefox arrived with Gecko. These 3 giants have gotten too big and too complacent, we are in dire need of a new serious player.

I have been through everything. And I mean everything. Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Tor, Opera, Opera GX and currently Brave and in all honesty Brave really has been the best experience so far.

Is it normal that every page takes longer to connect/load in firefox? It just feels slower than chrome somehow.

I use different browsers for different things, so seeing people announce a switch like itโs a huge milestone always seems a bit dramatic. Itโs like saying, “I took Tylenol instead of ibuprofen today.” If it works for you, greatโbut does it really need an announcement?

Forgive me if I’m a dummy. Want to switch to Firefox but how does password management work with Android phone. At the moment I can log in to say Netflix on PC and then open the app on my phone and it auto fills password. Can Firefox replicate this?
Was wondering where were the daily “chrome bad made the switch to Firefox” posts.

I just wish profile management was easier in FF, Edge, and others. I deal with a lot of profiles for clients and it’s a bit annoying that I have to tinker with the settings unlike in Chrome where you can have a dock for the profiles.

Been using Firefox since using Linux tbh it’s all the same. I only use Firefox for Tridactyl, a Vim-like plugin to navigate browser, and Chrome does not have it. Without that I would just use Chrome cuz it makes no difference to me.

Sorry, plunge? Firefox was the shit for so long and Chrome came in when Google was still behind their “Don’t be evil” moniker. They’re constantly force-feeding ads in every nook and cranny of the internet, as though they need more money. Chrome also conveniently takes all of your RAM as though it’s theirs to use freely. Firefox has maintained itself as a protector of privacy throughout this and dropped usability upgrades throughout. It used to get somewhat bogged down with addons while launching, but it’s so smooth and clean now. Fuck Chrome and fuck Google. Parasites that once made the internet more easily navigable have drowned everyone in incessant ads. Absolute scum wasting great tech minds to create garbage and are placating the Republican party rather than taking a stand.
