Because they march around Columbus, Ohio with swastika flags, and arm bands? Maybe, just maybe, that might be a sign of being a Nazi that voted for the Republicans.

Coming from a Social Democrat (me) from Europe, Germany: I wanted to say, don’t call them American Republicans Nazis (most extreme form of fascism with a set of very specific characteristics) and that they’re falling in the category of regular authoritarian Fascists. – But then I took a moment to re-read the definition of Nazism and what it includes especially, and dear Lord … they’re Nazis. America didn’t vote for Fascists, they voted for Nazis. America, what the actual fuck..?

I don’t call them Nazi’s, I call them fascists, because that’s what they are, by definition.
The Third Reich was the most murderous and evil fascist government the world has ever seen. There’s no guarantee that American fascism will be as bad as German fascism was, but the parallels are concerning to anyone with a working brain.

Nah this is a misunderstanding of fascism.
Fascism envisioned itself as a revolutionary future embracing a post-democratic world, and was a lot more of an informed, but fundamentally evil political theory rather than the largely-reactionary and regressive conservative base. Typically, fascism would actually poise itself as specifically against the traditionalism of conservative elements – though was more willing to ally with them than some other groups – because the goal was a re-invention of the nation under a new order and not a return to some past idyll. (Though it is worth noting that in those days, the conservative/traditionalist elements were usually more monarchist.)
I would say that modern conservatives would disagree with nazis on most big-picture things. For example, Nazis wanted a future post-democracy, where the state is unified under a dictator who would end democracy as a goal; conservatives ideate democracy and instead fall for conspiracy theories about how the principals of democracy have been undermined and co-opted by “liberal elites.” Nazis were famous corporatists – a type of alternative economic structure and a ‘third path’ between capitalism and socialism; the conservatives by contrast are usually terrified of any threat to free-market capitalism and often throw their support into the owners of big businesses. Nazis wanted more state control and state-run aspects of people’s lives; conservatives want governments to be smaller and weaker except in terms of social organization. And there were a lot of programs the nazis and fascists engaged in – the re-creation of extinct species, the goal of turning Poland into a nature preserve, the bans of smoking and focus on the public health of the German people (because the master race had to be healthy, you see,) the state-sponsored modernist architectural movements, the public funding of mothers so they could pump out more babies – most of which conservatives would absolutely oppose. Not to mention a focus on science which conservatives absolutely do not share – they would particularly dislike the nazi focus on genetics, with many of their ideas so rooted in misunderstood concepts about natural selection and genetics.
So, they’re very different. What the groups share is the militarism, racism, and nationalism. But that alone does not a fascist make.
No, I think Modern conservatives are more like the KKK – the point is to keep the undesirables quiet, and to impose pressure to conform to a standard rooted in a Chsitian-American identity.
