I have a two year-old cat at home who is very playful, and I wanted to adopt a younger cat in hopes they would play with each other.
But when I went to spend some time with the other cats, this guy came right up to me and gave me head butts. He’s 10 years old and his owner passed away last month. I got sad thinking of him in the shelter at Christmas. I hope he and Bean get along.
You did good . Giving that boy a few good years instead of living in a shelter . 💜

Sorry if you’ve already done this but introducing two adult cats is different to introducing a kitten to an adult cat. Please make sure to read up on it. You might have to go a bit slower.

Senior pets are the BEST!! Not destructive, and all they want is cuddles and naps.
Just adopted a 6 year old ragdoll. She’s so sweet, fits right in with the other pets.
I went to the shelter a few years ago and got this old one eyed man and he was the best cat I’ve ever had. He was very sweet and just wanted lovings. He passed away 2 years ago and not a day goes by that I don’t miss him.
His original family took him to shelter cause he didn’t get along great with their new kitten. He was 9 at the time and the longest resident at the shelter. I went there just to get information about vaccines for my dog and other cat and when I saw him, I knew he had to come home with me. He got along just fine with the other cat and dog.

And a fine life he will have for the rest of his days… Good on you. My husband and I went to a shelter to adopt a kitten and came home with an older BEAUTIFUL calico. She was the best cat I ever had and she was literally the “pretty princess Norma” until she passed.

I did the same thing, except I was there looking for a bunny. And also got the bunny… The 13 year old cat sleeps directly on my face every night. Gets made if I make him wait for me to actually get under the covers before he starts suffocating me. Love him dearly.

He looks like my dude who I adopted as an older cat. Adopting older cats is great. Most people only want kittens so youre helping a dude out, plus theres the bonus of getting all the cat stuff without the kitten bullshit.

This is wonderful. I went to a shelter to adopt some cats and ended up adopting a 1.5 yo and a 15 yo. The 15 yo lived for another 3.75 years. His name was Mandorf McCat. I loved him so much. Sweet and gentle. Sat with my wife every night.
Beautiful cat, well done for rescuing him, my last rescue was a 15 year old tuxedo found in a scrap yard in Dundee, I only had him 2.5 years, he passed in June, I still miss him loads, but have no regrets about bringing the wee old fellow home, just happy to have given him a loving couple of years before he left us.
