I’m still trying to understand what Trump is trying to achieve in all of this.
If it’s to focus on China, abandoning Ukraine sends the exact opposite message.
If it’s to put a deal it seems he makes the terms worse then they ever were
If it’s to make Europe to put more money on defense, ok that is kinda doing that but at what cost…

Donald Trump’s first impeachment was for withholding military aid to Ukraine while his staff worked in back channels to pressure Zelensky to go on CNN and announce a bogus investigation into Joe Biden to interfere in the 2020 election. He also wanted Zelensky to announce that it was Ukraine, not Russia, that interfered in the 2016 elections.
Republicans completely did a 180 for support to Ukraine halfway through the impeachment hearings. It was actually wild to see them go from arguing, “Trump actually sent them military aid while Obama only sent them blankets” to “Ukraine is the most corrupt country in the world and we should side with Russia”

The man remained in Kyiv when western leaders were *begging* him to evacuate and establish a government in exile. He knew full well he would be killed if he stayed and Ukrainian heroes didn’t hold off the Russians.
The man has worked tirelessly to get resources for his country to defend itself, globetrotting to kiss many rings without a hint of pride.
The man offered to resign as president of his nation if it would bring peace.
Volodymyr Zelensky is in the Washington/Lincoln/Churchill tier of world leaders. 5 foot 7 inches tall, and yet he towers over every other world leader going back generations. 286-0 indeed.

It’s also part of their constitution that if they are in the middle of a war that they don’t have more elections until peacetime….which is very common practice for wartime democracies

This is a bit misleading. They affirmed that he is the legitimate leader as elections could not take place because
>”Most Ukrainians, including major opposition parties, agree that holding credible elections now amidst the war is not possible because millions are abroad as refugees, hundreds of thousands are fighting.”
Now this is wild because I received scrutiny over the whole biased poll that took place last week citing how they did not utilize said refugees or the opinions of the soldiers on if they trust Zelensky. I also pointed out how obscure the polling answers were. The article OP links is bare bones with really no detail what so ever.
-ALSO-
Just to point out the article the OP post states
>”The draft resolution failed to pass in its first attempt on Monday, receiving only 218 votes — short of the required 226.
>The failure was attributed to the European Solidarity party, led by former President Petro Poroshenko. However, on Tuesday, Poroshenko announced that his faction would no longer obstruct the adoption of “key defense and international legislation.””
Meanwhile an ABC article states
>Oleksandr Merezhko, a member of the Ukrainian parliament representing Zelenskyy’s party, told ABC News that Monday’s vote failed because too few of the president’s faction were present.
>”It was Monday, when many members of parliament hadn’t come from their districts yet,” he said. By Tuesday, enough MPs were in attendance for the vote to pass comfortably.
Just lol, you get different answers on different articles.

Based on previous examples, the USA regardless of presidency, does not like it when democratic countries choose their own leaders. But I hope trump is too incompetent to lead a coup.

I think the point is that unless you’re Ukranian, you don’t get a fuckin say.
Something Americans – especially Trump – have trouble understanding.
Nobody cares whether you’re pro-Zelensky. This isn’t like supporting your favorite sports team. Your say literally should not matter in another country.

To be specific: they voted to recognise that Zelensky is the legitimate president, and that elections should be held immediately after the war is over.
At this point id fight for Zelensky if he asked me man. Against any of its enemies.
