Wonder why every country that experienced russian friendship first-hand desperately wanted to join NATO. Guess we’ll never know
The Russians have always been well aware that NATO is a defensive alliance and have never wanted to attack them. All countries join NATO voluntarily, they are not invaded. The Russians also know that NATO is much stronger than they are.
The Russians only have one problem with NATO, if a country joins it means one less country for them to invade in the future.
Thre are many reasons Finns don’t like Russia such as the [long reason](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finland_under_Swedish_rule#Long_Wrath), the [great reason](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Wrath), the [winter reason](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_War) and the [continuation reason](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuation_War).
Tale as old as time. Don’t forget that they’ll also try to Russify all of their neighbors if they do conquer them. They’ve been doing that since the 19th century and this is how they currently justify their current irredentism.
Don’t forget Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Qazaqstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Chechnya, Circassia, Dagestan, Crimea, Kazan khaganate, Astrakhan and all the peoples that never had their own state some of which are almost fully extinct by now.

The problem with Russians is that they mistake politeness for cowardice.
And they understand only the return blow and only after they get a punch in the nose do they begin to respect you.
And sadly, a significant number of people still feel nostalgic for the communist era. Besides those who lived through those times, there are also young people who praise it—mainly due to Russian propaganda and a lack of historical knowledge.
It’s insane that the Soviets were actually able to spread the lie that they were anti-imperialist. No, the Soviets were just as imperialist, if not more. Russia inherited the USSR’s institutions and it’s also authoritarian. Not much changed. Russia never learnt from the past and stuck with it.
It could’ve become a pluralistic democracy with a somewhat decent standard of living. Now, it’s a shithole of a country with a state that’s run by organized crime. There have to be some serious changes if Russia were to ever be something that isn’t a nightmare for its peoples and neighbours…
I struggle to understand why is Putin still set in the old ideology of conquering and expanding their territories (restoring the old USSR and then some)?
Russia is already the largest country by landmass. Why be hellbent in expanding it more by opression and threatening world peace?
Moldova, Sweden? Also Belarus, but there is no resistance over there since it has been ‘de-nazified.’
I would love to give all Western and South American tankies a one-way ticket to rot in that soulless place.
They can have Hungary though.
Looks like soon the NATO logo on the shield will turn into the EU flag.

Remember, its NATO’s fault for not disbanding and allowing others to aggressively join its defensive alliance just because Russia was constantly invading its neighbours. Evil Ukraine was getting too friendly with the west when all Russia was doing was stealing its land.
Russia keeps saying NATO is a threat to Russia when NATO is a defensive alliance to put it simply Fuck around and find out alliance. Only reason why Russia has issue with countries it bullies joining NATO is that their plans invading said country are now ruined.
