I’m not sayin’ it’s right, but how many people in DC would be alive if Batman had just broken Joker’s neck after the second or third time he escaped and murdered a bunch of people?

Depends on the hero, but most WILL resort to violence depending on the situation or type of kaijin/enemy, especially in the medium Godzilla created, tokusatsu. Kamen Riders sometimes have problems in holding back their strength. The ranger teams starting from Himitsu Sentai Gorenger to Chojin Sentai Jetman are either spies and commandos organized by the UN or aliens or civilians caught in the crossfire.
After all, some of the most notorious for heroes who kill on sight in mainstream tokusatsu media are Red Man, Kamen Rider Amazon, the Amazons from Kamen Rider Amazons, Kohtaro Minami/Kamen Rider Black Sun, Don Momotaro of Avataro Sentai Donbrothers, and the Makai Knights from GARO. Also adding in Shoujo Commando Izumi since that’s about a highschool girl armed with a ton of weapons.
