PUT HER IN CHARGE OF THE DEM PARTY
I’ve been really struggling since the election because, among other things, it shattered my faith in people. Understanding exactly what the fuck happened and why was absolutely lost on me. I felt I no longer understood my country (a not so small part of it anyway) and it sent me spinning.
It didn’t click for me until the other day when I saw a post from Rep. Jasmine Crockett saying, (I’m paraphrasing here) that the thing that Dems (Democratic Party) fail to understand is that there are people in this country that *want* to hurt others, that *want* pain and suffering inflicted on those they deem “less than” and that empathy is not a driving force. That when given the opportunity to do the right and righteous thing, people will not rise to meet the moment and we have to respond accordingly.
I’m shit at explaining this as a revelation because it’s not like I was unaware of or blind to the malice and the propagandized demonization of marginalized groups. It was simply connecting how the Democratic Party (overall) and a lot of Dems/liberals/leftists/give it a name operates and it’s always reactionary and on their back foot. And doing right by way of opposing wrong, it requires vigilance and decisive action.
Rep. Crockett, among other Dems, are a light during a very dark time and they make me feel sane when so much of the world is spiraling.
I like her for a lot of things, including her being direct.

To say something to Musk’s face, I’d use a phrase that will stand the test of time, a picture worth a thousand words, a sentence that can be abstract into different meanings of understanding while being black and white of simplicity for a naive person to understand. I too would say Fuck off.
