Japan’s railway platforms saw an 84% drop in suicides after installing blue LED lights, which are believed to have a calming effect and reduce impulsivity.
A huge improvement over the red strobe lights previously installed.

84% seems to be too large of number
Majority of those who try for it wouldn’t really be looking the surroundings imo

Businesses in America have started using blue lights in bathrooms because it makes it really hard to spot your veins.

You wouldn’t be able to get union agreement to have this in the UK across the entire network without other colours being discussed and the extra money for at least two people to change the light bulb. Strikes across multiple years would need to happen first before the correct person could be identified to turn the switch on. Commuters would not be allowed to touch it.

Obviously we can’t, but I am curious if red lights (associated with impulsivity and quick thinking) would have an inverse effect

There were a ton of those broken blue LEDs installed around Florida, and I swear people drove more casually in the blue (as opposed to orange/white street lights.)
I thought it was a via, because I liked the blue lights more.
84% is a damn huge drop. good for them
I want to believe… what’s the source?
Damn ! People should install these lights into their OFFICES and workplaces to remain CALM
Can we borrow some of your ‘let’s try this because it has some interesting data and is better than nothing’ people over here in the USA?
All the cities that have gotten those janky streetlights that end up turning bluish purple should snap up this explanation for when people complain.
In the U.S. we use blue lights in bathrooms because the blue light makes it hard to see your veins, so you can’t shoot up as easily.
Can’t decide if that’s more or less depressing
I fucking hate blue lights. Just cold cold lighting.
People who are asking for link.

Never saw someone kill themselves at Kmart.

[this](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22980401/) link have a little more information about it.
Honestly, looking at this image immediately brightened my mood.
Maybe if they could find the reason as to why people want to kill themselves here’s a hint over fucking worked and exhausted.

Blue LED is so Japanese.
