I was on a flight earlier this year and just before we landed the pilot informed everyone that there was a medical emergency on board and paramedics were waiting for us to land. So he instructed everybody to stay seated when we landed so paramedics could come onboard. We landed and about 40% of the plane still got up to get their bags. Like WTF? So the pilot told everyone to sit the f down. The paramedics came onboard and about 40% got up again to which the pilot had to tell everyone AGAIN to sit down so the paramedics could take the person off the plane.
People are just the worst on planes.

Was connecting from Europe and flight was running late. Pilot got on & said they were letting anyone off with a 90min or less connection first, since they ate half the time. They asked those of with connections to raise our hand so we could be let out of our rows (I was in the window).
The people next to me wouldn’t let me out of my seat. They actually said to me “we will all get off together”. I had to actually use the call button and the flight attendant had to explain to them why I needed to get off (another 10 minutes wasted).
They were still arguing with her as I was running off the plane. People are stupid and their stupidity makes them feel like they’re being screwed. It must be horrible to live life as such a stupid person.

Look, I work in the business as a flight attendant. I understand that it is hard to be sitting for hours in a claustrophobic tube. We sometimes don’t realize but sitting for hours is actually more tiresome than working.
But holy shit I get mad when people don’t even wait for the seat belt signs. One time there was this guy and his kid got up while the plane was taxiing. I warn them 3 times that it is wasn’t safe and told them the fasten their seat belts. Of course they didn’t listen. Then the plane had to make a emergency brake because of something. They went 5 rows back flying. Kid has it’s nose broken and bleeding, guy hurt his back and crying in pain.
And they had the audacity to tell me that I should have warned them and what kind of fucking pilot is that.
Well I guess they were the first to go, because we made another announcement for them to exit first, by paramedics
Edits: People think plane brakes are the same as car breaks. Planes are like tilting dolls. Landing gears break first and When they break you go forward a little bit and than slam backwards when plane reacts to them. As it is jiggly for a reason. Most people instinctively hold on to a seat when going forward but they don’t expect to go backwards after it. So that’s why they have fallen backwards.

I fly a few times a year. I have inner ear issues, and most times get “sea sick” while flying. Standing after landing helps alleviate that feeling for me.

When are you supposed to stand up? I guess I get annoyed at the person sitting in the aisle is not ready to go when the queue is to our row and then holds everyone up.

I prefer to have the aisle, so I’ll stand if anyone in my row wants out, but then I’ll just take the window seat and wait.
The only reason I’d get involved in a bottleneck like this is if I have a connecting flight I have to get to in a hurry. Usually, on a flight this short, it was everyone’s destination, so that might not even apply here.

I really don’t understand why this is a problem. When I travel with my kids, their baby seats, etc we all stay seated until the plane is empty because you don’t want to be behind our clown show juggling a million things down the aisle.
But when flying for business and alone, why not? It’s a big empty area. I don’t expect to get off earlier. We are all waiting for those in front anyway. Seems like being up, bag in hand and ready to walk would be the appropriate thing to do.
As for being in the way, if everyone starts crowding, I sit back down. So certainly not everyone seated in an aisle should be up at the same time, but if the aisle is open, and we are stopped and the person across the aisle isn’t moving, why not? What’s the big deal?
Other than when instructed to do so, why should we continue to sit until our row is ready to leave?

I don’t care what anyone in this post says. I’m tall and the seats hurt. I’m standing as soon as the seat belt sign is off. I’m not obnoxious. I’m not pushing out first. I will wait my turn. I’ll help with your bag. But I’m standing the fuck up as soon as possible.

I dont know why people complain about this. You ever see how slow people grab their bags from the overhead while deplaning? why would you not be grateful that 1/6th of passengers stand up and grab their bags early? That means 1/6 of people are already prepared and ready to zoom out so you can deplane 3-5 minutes sooner.

For an interesting exercise, stand at the gate and watch when a plane arrives. You’ll see a stream of people getting off. Then there will be a pause of a minute before the next person gets off and then a stream behind them. That is the person who didn’t get up and get organized when the plane landed holding up the process. They wait until it is almost there turn and then start getting their jacket on, their book or iPad from the seat back, get their bag down and out all their belongings away, all while all aisle in front of them is empty.
Those people tick me off a lot more than someone who stands up immediately after the seat belt sign goes off.

I honestly don’t see why standing up next to your seat if you’re in the aisle seat is a big deal. It gives the other people on the row a bit more room to get their belongings together, and I can stretch my back and legs after sitting in a confined, uncomfortable seat. Every flight I’ve ever been on this is what people do. So you want everyone to stay seated until the plane empties to their row? lol. Now if they try to push up the aisle in front of others, that’s bullshit.

40 minute flight for you might be to your final destination, bur for others they might have a connecting flight to catch and need to get off the plane ASAP and run through the airport.
A few weeks ago I had a 40 minute flight going to Amsterdam then a 14 hour flight following that, schipol is a big airport, my connecting gate could be on the opposite side of the airport, sometimes have to go through security again which could have a long queue at a busy time of day.
So for some people, there is justification in being keen to leave the plane as soon as possible

For some people, sitting for extended periods is extremely uncomfortable or painful. I’m not sure why it is so offensive to others that I stand up as soon as the seatbelt sign goes off, when I am in pain from being in one position for hours.

I fly a lot. I also have had multiple back surgeries. If I’m in cattle class, something about the shape/pitch of the seat is very uncomfortable and one or both legs often go completely numb – which even after all these years is still quite disconcerting. When the plane lands, I stand up as soon as I can. Please accept my heartfelt apologies in advance.

People will post this just because they know they’ll get a bunch of karma. If no one is rushing past you, it affects you in no way. It’s really simple. Airplane seats are tight and not comfortable to sit in. As soon as the seatbelt sign comes off, I stand up in the same spot my seat is. Don’t push past anyone, don’t go ahead to get my bag. Just tired of sitting in a seat that’s too small for me and it’s more comfortable to stand
