At my local VA hospital, they already took down the “we serve everyone who served” pride posters conveniently right after the election. Anyone who’s getting their meds through them better order refills asap because we might be losing coverage for certain medications no matter what your doctor say

It’s only an “administration” if they intend to govern lawfully, respect the constitution, and respect human rights. These are fascists, it’s a regime.

My city has a pride center and associations with the state university, so fortunately there is at least a layer of vetting for those, but yeah, if it’s sponsored by anything .gov, just nahh.
Honestly, unless you have been thoroughly vigilant throughout many years of keeping your browsing and purchasing history secret, as well as medical records, it’s likely the govt knows your trans. It’s not just the data that websites collect from you and bought by data brokers, but the NSA essentially saving the entire activity on the internet of everyone in its Utah storage facility.

I agree with being apprehensive and even with not participating. Participating in any research study is 100% voluntary! But there’s one very important point of context missing here:
The overwhelming majority of federally funded research comes with a guaranteed [certificate of confidentiality](https://www.va.gov/MINNEAPOLISRESEARCH/info/Certificate_of_Confidentiality.pdf) attached to it (PDF warning).
Under the Certificate, peoples’ participation in the study, including any identifying information, is legally exempt from being shared with anyone outside of the research team (and MAYBE the research funders) for any reason, including illegal behaviors, with very few exceptions (verifiable threats of violence, child abuse, self-harm, etc.). This allows people to conduct research, say, on how to help people who use heroin get access to treatment (just as one example). Otherwise, anyone who says “I used heroin today” to researchers could be opening themselves up to criminal charges. The Certificate is like HIPAA, but on steroids.
Be vigilant and be skeptical. But also I hope this helps you be a little bit informed about research, too.
I’m sorry but y’all also need to remember all bureaucracy is slow no matter how evil and this dude just took office. 90% of the stuff going around isn’t true or was already planned. Even the story of ICE officials in Chicagoland schools ended up being a misunderstanding the school board had to issue announcements over. The hysteria needs to stop because then we’re going to miss the real stuff.

I understand what you’re saying… But honestly, as someone who served initially under don’t ask don’t tell… I am living openly and honestly my truth these days. I understand that is probably a privilege as a cis bisexual woman. But I’m not going back into the closet.
