Knife grinders in France circa 1902. They worked lying down to save their backs and had dogs sit on their legs for warmth.

Water powered the grinding wheels so workplaces were damp and wet, and cold in winter. It was known as “Le Creux de l’enfer” Hell’s Hollow because of the constant and deafening sound of the river…

“A 60 hour week is peak efficiency”

I don’t know much about knife sharpening, but I like lying down and love dogs, where do I apply?

So, I am rearranging my workplace.

Don’t know how much work I’d get done this way, tbh looks like a very comfortable way to sleep.

😞 I feel bad for the two who don’t have pups. Are they not loved? Are they allergic? So many questions

Same here in Idar-Oberstein, with gem- grinding and polishing. They were done, corporally when reaching their forties. Afaik some small mills were producing that way until deep in the 20th century, still.

That is surprisingly considerate regarding (long term) health issues. At least to some extent. Nice

We need to bring this job back, just the dog part.

This is what the basset hound was designed for.

Never happen in America. Even if it doubled productivity

I’ve had a Basset Hound. They’re not made to do that. They just automatically will because they’re lazy gluttonous sluts.

Forget stand-up workstations in offices for ergonomics, lie-down work stations are a better idea, will be requesting one for my cubicle!

99% sure this is a repost, and half these comments are the same ones from last time. Dead internet theory is sounding more and more likely.

Somehow I’ve seen this picture a handful of times yet never noticed the dogs before. They look so dang comfy.

Couldn’t they just use a blanket?

We need dogs… for.. er.. warmth!

Bruh the dogs clock into a 9-5 shift as a leg sitter 😭😭

So this is what Grindr app looked like 100 years ago?

Definitely not the *FABERWARE* knife company because they don’t slice anything

I’ve seen this picture reposted so many times…I have never noticed the dogs

This explains the old adage about putting your nose to the grindstone!

Duplicate post from a bot.

good for back, bad for wiener

Yet retail cashiers cant sit down and work.

There were stones rolling under the floor to sharpen blades, trained by the flow of a river.

laying down on the job again smith?… you’re fired! and your little dog too!

That one dog is getting in there

This is the future conservatives want for our children

Are they hiring?

Is that an LG Flatron 19″ LCD monitor?
