100% agree. We need guys who actually LIKE basketball covering the games/league. Yeah, my team (Wolves) suffered from some terrible officiating tonight (it wasn’t the only reason they lost). I still stayed up to watch a rookie post a career high, my team refusing to quit, and some competitive basketball. This is the best game being played by the most talented athletes on earth. If you can’t have fun and enjoy that what is actually wrong with you?

ESPN and TNT found out long ago that they need to lambaste players to get ratings and fill their pockets, but recently it’s gotten way more malicious and way less appreciative of any excellence.
He’s right. It’s not even just criticism. It’s genuine hating.
NBA analysts have become akin to the angry nerd rant type videos about games or movies were everywhere the last decade. Those were obnoxious and only designed to get people riled up and engaged.
Sadly he’s right. It’s so bizarre having basketball analysts and people who cover the product continuously shit on it. Part of perception of how a league is doing is how people talk about it from the media. And part of the issue is that it feels like some of these “analysts” don’t actually watch the games being played. They just shit on the highlights.
Which is why I can appreciate an outlet like Thinking Basketball because they actually watch the games and critique it fairly while still giving the current product its props when earned. It’s one thing to be constructively critical, it’s another thing to be constantly bitching about the current game and its players.

The NBA and it’s media partners need to promote the game. The current media landscape is based on hating basketball. Is the league above criticism? No, but constantly shitting on the product does nothing but harm interest in this beautiful game.
Every clip I see from TNT is Chuck or Shaq shitting on players/teams/coaches/whoever. He isn’t wrong at all, it gets exhausting and I think the ratings reflect a lot of the negativity. We need hypemen, not Debbie downers.
Damn right. Retired players making fun of current players. Name the retired players who really try to shine a positive light on the current players. I can only think about Kobe’s Detail and him openly supporting the younger generation and the WNBA. I am positive Lebron will do the same when he retires 10 yrs from now.
