If this were to happen, we might have to retire the sub. This would be the most “leopards ate my face” moment of all, short of a leopard actually eating someone’s face.
I swear these twerps believed that if they voted for Dump they’d be enrolled in a sort of Make a Wish program where Donald would personally meet with each of them and grant their dearest wish.

My loans will go from 15 to 350 because I got married thinking the save plan would be there. Even if only that happened to me, at least the people who got forgiveness were fine. They made it out.

I paid off and financed my master’s degree program by both saving up money for about 3 or so years and working near full-time while a student, and I still supported Biden’s loan forgiveness program in a heartbeat. Why people can’t not bite the hand that feeds them is totally beyond me.
These kinds of things cannot be retroactively changed once they’ve happened, including those that are already undertaking the process. Only future borrowers would be impacted.

“Any regulatory changes must be prospective only,” meaning that eliminations to loan forgiveness programs would only impact new borrowers, explained Betsy Mayotte, president of The Institute of Student Loan Advisors, a nonprofit that helps borrowers navigate the repayment of their debt.
“They aren’t allowed to change regulations retroactively,” she added.
For that reason, even borrowers who have been pursuing forgiveness under an income-driven repayment plan or a program like PSLF, but have not yet received that relief, may be safe.

As he slaves away for decades to repay those loans, forsaking home purchases and retirement accounts, he can comfort himself with the knowledge that Trans people have been forced by law to use the bathrooms that God intended them to use.

From my understanding, it wasn’t the loans that were forgiven, it was the insurmountable interest tacked onto them. Some people had their heavy interest rate debt wiped out after meeting very particular criteria; such as: having made payments for 10-20 years and having had paid off their loan amount had it not been for the crazy interest. That’s very different then people “taking out loans and having them forgiven.”
“Student loan forgiveness” is as misleading of a name as “pro life.”
Ok. Time for the Democrats to campaign on forcing a repayment of all PPP Loans that were forgiven, and require that all MBS bailouts be paid back.

It might be petty of me, but a trumpette former friend of mine, who also took advantage of Obama’s “Cash for Clunkers” program, was counting on getting her school loan debt cancelled.

Forgive my ignorance–but can he actually do this?
PSLF program was created under Bush and the forgiven loans met the qualifications of the program. It wasn’t a random give away. Why punish people who have worked as teachers, nurses, cops, and at non-profits for 10 years to satisfy a small handful of his followers? I’m not even sure how you reinstate a closed loan account.
However, everyone that still has an open loan is probably fair game. I think they could probably add back all the interest from any forbearance period. Truly spiteful behavior for no reason.
They would lose those lawsuits very quickly. You cannot forgive a loan and then turn around and say “just kidding” whether you are a private citizen or the federal government.

For years people have been saying Biden just needs to issue blanket forgiveness without congress. And every time I responded with “The next time the cons come into power they’ll probably just reinstate the loans.” Which was always met with downvotes and “They can’t do that!”
If I had the boredom I’d go back, track down all those users who said it, and say I Fucking Told You So.
Rollback doesn’t mean the loans that were already forgiven are due again. It means no one else will have their loans forgiven.
