Judges can and have ruled against generals and their units if they conducted themselves unconstitutionally. Exhibit A: the point of the entire Judge Advocate General (JAG) corp; exhibit B: the charges against the torturers of the detention facility at Abu ghraib
Judges can and have *routinely* checked advocates-general on the limits of their prosecutorial powers. For example, it is to avoid the reflection of overreach that an AG will appoint a special prosecutor in matters where the AG may have a conflict of interest.

He’s pretending that the judiciary isn’t there to keep the executive branch in check. That’s their entire job. He’s trying to muddy the waters so that when his branch decides to negate all the oversight that’s baked into the constitution, people will have the misunderstanding that it’s ok.
Now that he’s said this there will be a large contingent of people that will uncritically believe him. These will be the people that will defend his wiping his ass with the constitution.
I mean he knows how it works. Theyve used to the courts to block democratic presidential executive orders. He just trying to rile up the masses and make it ok in the public zeitgeist to disobey a judges orders

Federal judges have already shut down various executive orders he has put out and even members of their own party in Congress are calling BS on what they are doing. I’m honestly waiting for him to say he is firing a federal judge for stopping his executive order

I didn’t read Hillbilly Elegy, and I haven’t done a deep dive into a lot of what he says, but he just doesn’t seem that smart to me. He has no interpersonal skills or charisma, and it seems to frustrate him that people hold that against him. That video from the donut shop was excruciating.
