Shoutout to Lonzo. He always seemed like the most level-headed in the whole family.
They had one brain to share among 3 brothers, and Lonzo took 100% of it.

the one regular season LiAngelo played in Greensboro, he averaged 4.6ppg, 1.1rpg, 0.3apg, 39.5/35.7/66.7 shooting across 28 games playing 13.3 minutes.
That same Greensboro Swarm team had James Bouknight sent down to it and averaged 21.4/5.9/5.0 on 44.8/33.3/85.7 shooting playing just 24.8 minutes across 7 games.
James Bouknight is extremely far away from being a serviceable player worthy of a ten day contract, let alone actually making an NBA team any time soon. LiAngelo is a couple orders of magnitude worse.
If anybody anywhere in the world is willing to pay LiAngelo Ball to play basketball, he shouldn’t turn it down.
Isn’t he saying that overseas is a better pathway for him to play in the NBA instead of the g-league?

This gives me newfound respect for the guys who go overseas to play. It’s easy to make fun of dudes with the “get ready to learn Chinese buddy” type of thinking but it’s actually a real sacrifice/change lots of players aren’t willing to make. Too much ego or comfort at home.

It’s called sacrifice and he’s not willing to do it to see how far his career can go, even if it’s already closer to the end than he’s willing to admit.
He’s rich asf already without actually making it to the league. He does not have the hunger to grind out a path to the league. He might be talented enough to be a backup one day, but right now his safety net keeps him comfortable.
He think he too good for overseas. I made this same mistake. I believe I was good enough to play D1 football but only had D2 offers. Turned them all down. Playing HS football in the Dallas metro, my HS had better facilities and stadiums than every college I visit. I could’ve grinded for a year or two then transferred or not and just play the game I love for 4 years and get a free education. But my ego wouldn’t allow it. He gone be thinking one day “damn…Lonzo was right”

His family almost bankrupted him when he made it into the league. I’m surprised he talks to any of them. There was those reports that showed everything Ball related was registered in his name AND the BBB business manager, who was a friend of his dad, stole a bunch of money from him. On top of the possible reason for his foot and knee issues being those fucking shoes.
I know people with mindsets like LiAngelo. Always making excuses for why they can’t do something. Oh I am waiting for this, oh I am waiting for that, oh if this works out then I don’t need to do that. These people never make it. He’ll probably just going to coast off of his brothers’ successes.
I just checked his stats this year. He stunk in the Mexican league
The best decision he can make right now is giving up on ever going to the NBA and focus on something else.

Truth is he probably knows what type of “overseas” he’d be playing in. He’s not being picked up by any Euroleague or Eurocup teams. He’d end up playing for some Romanian team, living in a small town with f all to do, and probably still not getting close to his 30. I don’t even blame him for pretending to wait for the G League. I’m sure he’s not struggling.
LiAngelo has a kid to take care of. Imagine taking care of your child using your sibling’s money. Been leaching off his brothers forever. Only got a UCLA offer because Lonzo said he won’t go there unless they offer all 3 of them.
Lonzo seems like he’s saying this as genuine advice looking out for his younger brother. I would say it’s quite fair if LiAngelo hasnt even played since 2022

Said he scored 28 in a G league game and throws his hands up in confusion as to why he sat the next 10 games. Probably cuz he shot 30% to get to that 28 pts, had no assists, and played shit defense.
