Y’all weren’t wrong about the lack of context, goddamn. So basically the Trump administration were discussing war plans in Yemen in a group chat through the app, Signal, and unknowingly added a Jeff Goldberg, journalist and editor-in-chief for the *Atlantic*.
He probably had to do it for his own safety. Who knows what kinds of ends these idiots would have gone through to cover this up…. One of them could have House of Cards on rotation.

This was my initial thought as well. But he had to leave that group. Staying and knowingly viewing legitimate confidential conversations would’ve set him up to be made an example of.

I read the tweet as “Goldblum” and was like wait what happened now?

When I was reading the article this morning I was thinking the exact same thing, they would have been like “where’s the leak” for years and never realizing it, these Trumpers are buffoons of the highest order.
If they ever actually realized they accidentally added that reporter on their own, they would have 100% prosecuted him as domestic cyber security terrorist despite it being all their own faults.
But on the other hand, there’s also a very good chance they are too dumb to realize what they did at any point if that reporter didn’t ring the alarm on them.
That man must have been scared he was going to hear something that put him in danger. Bet he couldn’t wait to end it.

I don’t understand how no one looked at who was in the group. The first thing I do is check out who in a group text before I respond because maybe I don’t wanna communicate with someone in particular but all those dumb asses never noticed an extra person unknown person in the group, LOL.

It was a group chat, started for this discussion and would most likely have been abandoned once it was done and auto-deleted after a few days. It wouldn’t have served anyone’s interests to stay on a dead group chat.
Just leak everything the fact that they’re using these private devices it’s already over
