They had to get rid of kids marketing due to healthy eating trends.
Also, those play pens were notoriously dirty. I think there was a popular (pre-internet) TV news reporting that should how much feces was in those play pen things and McDonald’s slowly began removing them and banning them.

What seems like a cheerful spot feels more like a prison—where you check in, eat your meal in silence, and leave, hoping no unstable person is lurking near your car.
Truly, the past was better, or at least that’s how I remember it. [Do you remember these things? Such nostalgia.](https://screach.org/w14m1r)

Fast food places are no longer a guaranteed investment. The building owner wants to make sure he could be turned into another if it goes belly up.

The biggest change is now all these restaurants are focused on the drive thru as it’s their biggest source of revenue. Starbucks has been ruthlessly closing as many of their stores as they can that don’t have drive thrus, and McDo is following suit.

I’m not exactly mad that fast food places arent screaming even extra loud at children to come eat there.
You truly have to be a gigantic individual to care about the exterior of mcdonalds this much.

Kinda feel like unhealthy fast food joints not trying to directly appeal to children isn’t a bad thing honestly

I think covid killed play places too. I’ve noticed a few chick fil as tearing theirs down to make room for more dining.

Also, when you go inside it sounds like an ICU at the hospital with all the beeping, alarms going off behind the counter.

I watched half of The Founder today and I can’t stop thinking about how they were reluctant to franchise because they didn’t want to lose oversight of the quality.

I remember being young. We never really ate fast food unless we were on the road. I used to get so excited when I saw those arches. I’m hoping to see the colors of a play place towering over the actual building as we turned off the freeway. Nothing lasts forever.

Indoor playground makes more sense than an outdoor when it comes to a place to dine in but the new building design is just so boring

I remember really liking it the first time I saw a restaurant present a more “modern” look like this. But then they all started to do it and now it seems like all corporate design in the US looks the same and appears lifeless from their logos to their buildings.

If you are an adult who still goes to McDonalds then yup. You should be depressed.
Why is everything so drab and colorless nowadays?
