If you are driving on anything other than an interstate (or the non-US equivalent) from 2:30am to 4:30am, you have a story to tell. That story might be going to taco bell. It might be related to a crime. It might be a journey home from a night out that went way too hard. It might be a hospital trip. I can’t think of anything else less ridiculous.

When i drove to work on new years day at 5 am, i kept thinking about how everyone on the road should’ve just called out and stayed home with their families. Then i realized i should’ve probably done the same lmao
I’m always confused when I go to the gym at like 11AM or 3PM and see other adults like don’t you have work? I mean I work remotely and somewhat flexibly but surely that’s not the case for you right (it probably is, I’m just delusional).
Like the ol’ classic;

Ok, so it’s 2 in the morning, you’re driving to the store. You get to an intersection and the light is red. Absolutely zero traffic. The light is really long. How long are you supposed to wait before you go through it?
This is a question that has troubled me for a long, long, time.
I grew up in a small town. When I first got a car I had a friend across town. I would get stopped by police late at night constantly to the point I knew when they went by they were going to turn around and pull me over. Once it was a game warden(that may have been legit as my friend lived way out in the woods so they may have suspected illegal hunting at night). After the first or second time they must have realized I was just some kind going home. But it was the middle of the night and I was the only car on the road so I guess I seemed sketchy.
I’m out driving at 4am because
1. It staves off the existential dread
2. It’s the only time the roads are empty enough to exercise the RAW UNBRIDLED POWER of my MAZDA MIATA
I work at 4 most days and this is definitely me lol
One time I got off work at around 2 am and was pulled over on the side of the road to read my phone for a sec. Nobody is on the streets. All of a sudden another car a blue Prius pulls up right behind me and the guy sits for around 1 minute. He gets out the car and starts tapping on my driver side window, I just floored it lmao.
Uhh… I get off work at 2am… then drive 40 miles home….my poor ugly car gets pulled over by police twice a week for some made up reason every time
I always feel like I am doing illegal stuff going to gas station for caffeine at 2-4 am on a week night. The side of town I am on doesn’t have much going on at time and might be one other customer there who half the time looks like they are up to something shady or might ask me for money.
Me seeing another car on the road at 3am: AH FUCK TURN OFF THE HIGH BEAMS WTF… Wait those weren’t high beams those were just the normal lights what the fuck?..

You grow up being antisocial and shunned for it, and then see that being so is the norm, celebrated and memed.
I immediately don’t trust them. They must be drunk. Gonna cross that center line and hit me head-on any sec…..ope okay that guy was good, but still gotta look out for the next guy.
When I was younger I worked night shift at a service station. It had a self serve car wash connected to the side of it. People would be washing their cars at 3:30 in the morning. Not just occasionally, but every night!
