If I replace each pixel over time, will it still be the same meme?

People say it’s a funny and clever joke but are too afraid to explain what they think it means because they are afraid they would give different answers and would look silly

Not related to this meme, but this reminded me of an Indian movie named “Ship of Theseus” by Anand Gandhi. Must watch if you are into philosophy.

At what point does it become a replica?
I always feel this way when someone buys a completely broken down car from a century ago and uses just the frame to rebuild it with modern parts.

I think the answer is this (not to the meme)
Shops are made out of materials. If you replace all the materials of a ship and use the old materials to make a ship you have two ships.
THE ship of Theseus is the original, the one being actively used and continuing to be called the ship of Theseus regardless of how many of the materials have been replaced.
The new ship using the old materials, is simply a new ship that happens to be an exact replica of the first ship, using its old materials.

Can someone make the ship of the left turned around so it looks like it is outgoing? That would make this meme perfect.

Plutarch actually looks like someone that would come up with this thought experiment stoned out of his mind. “If you replace every part of a ship, is it still the same ship?” “Wooah dude, you should put that in your scroll”

Okay since apparently no one here knows what a Ship of Theseus is, let me explain it to you fucking monkeys.
The resulting ship does not have to be identical to the original ship.
The paradox is that if you replaced all the parts of a ship over time, at what point is it a different boat? Is it ever a different boat?
It’s easier to think about if you use an axe instead of a ship. You replace the handle of an axe, is it still the same axe? What about when you then replace the head? Is it the same axe then?
That’s the paradox. It’s not really a *paradox* insofar as it is a metaphor to explore deeper questions about Athenian identity and political continuity. The real ship of Theseus was a sacred vessel preserved by the Athenians for centuries in honor of their legendary hero Theseus. As parts of the ship decayed, they were replaced with new materials.
HERES WHAT ITS NOT:
* THE ORIGINAL SHIP AND THE RESULTING SHIP DO NOT HAVE TO BE IDENTICAL
* YOU DO NOT HAVE TO MAKE A SHIP OUT OF THE PARTS REPLACED
