First you walk that way until you see x house and then you walk that way until you see x house and if you continue there you see a shop and then you turn left and you are there

Just like when someone says to you out of nowhere, โ€˜Tell me any word at allโ€™. Blank mind.

Yeah it’s easy. You just take that one road by Brian’s house and then you go down to where Katy works and it’s just past that weird side street where they were gonna put a McDonald’s in when we were little….uh I don’t know what they put there instead, but yeah it’s like right by that. Can’t miss it.

If you don’t drive you won’t really need to memorize street names. You can probably tell people how to commute though.

Wait, streets have names?

Bro๐Ÿ˜Š, I dont know streets I know landmarks

I live in a 500+ townhouse community, and I run every road every day. One lap can be 5-7 miles. People sometimes stop me to ask for directions for streets within my neighborhood. I know where one street is, and itโ€™s the one I live on.

“sorry to bother you, I’m looking for the train station”

“I’m not bother, you can keep looking”

I don’t pay attention to street names.

This is so aggravating with grown adults. Iโ€™m not saying you need to be a walking GPS, but you should know the name of the street you live on and work on. Also this interaction:

Me: so youโ€™ll take northwest street until you get to smith street, then turn left-

Then: which one is smith street?

Me: the one with the street sign that says โ€œsmithโ€ on it.

In the past I would know all the streetnames in my area but now I only know 3 or 4 at most where I live lol

I believe this is a personal attack towards me.

GPS ruined us.

I pulled out the “idk, I’m new here too” card once and I’m still feeling embarrassed to this day ๐Ÿ’€

I literally donโ€™t know street names

Before GPS, did cab drivers just have to know where everything was?

I donโ€™t know street names just landmarks

So like there’s this kinda big tree and a weird rock like 5mins past a 711. If you hit a pothole you probably went to far or maybe not

So you head down the street towards john’s house, take a left at that one tree, follow that until you get to the intersection where normally I would go left for the supermarket (but take a right there), etc…

My directions. Go to 5 corners but it’s not really 5 corner since they closed off one street 20 years ago but the Five Corners store is still there then head towards the old library which is now a seniors centre, turn left at the dress shop with white pillars.etc

I go by landmarks. Like, “go straight until you hit a tree that looks like a flamingo. If you see a rock that looks like Elvis, you’ve gone too far”

Every time Iโ€™m like โ€œlet me just get my google mapsโ€

I only knew directions by heart in one town I’ve lived in. that’s by street name. most everything else is landmark-based.

I just tell them what I think is correct and leave. Sometimes I will get it wrong

Lol this happened to me once and I’ve never forgotten it

โ€œJust follow me. I know the way!โ€

I grew up in a small town of about 500 people, so there were like 3 streets in the whole town. One day this tourist got lost there and he stopped next to me to ask for directions, so the helpful dude i am i tried to give him the best explanation i could give…. just to watch him drive off into the wrong direction.

You better believe i went home in a straight line and barricaded myself for the rest of the day.
Sometimes i still think of it and hope i never cross ways with that dude again.

Lmao! I’ve lived in my small town for about 6 years and we get a lot of tourists. I get a lot of, “Hey, where is a good place to eat?” Or, “Hey do you how to get to so and so?” And I have absolutely no idea. I don’t know the street names and I’ve tried two restaurants.
