/r/letstalkmusic in fucking tatters because you can’t eloquently discuss every facet of every Beach Boys album or the various nuances in Tropicalia music

I’m one of those nutcases who uses YouTube music instead of Spotify, mostly because whenever I click like on a video, it adds it to a single long playlist, and the app strips out all the non-music videos for me.

So I just have this massive, 900-track playlist that I’ve been adding to for the past eight years, sorted by date added. It’s like a visual timeline of my music tastes over the past decade

An album is an art form. Not all albums need to be listened to all the way through, but for some it’s definitely the intended way to experience it, and you’re missing out on an entire part of the art form by not doing so. Just my opinion

I have a playlist of exactly 100 songs in my car.

It ranges from 80’s classics, to movie soundtracks, Songs from internet parodies like Auralnauts, Scanlan Shorthalt, songs I like only because they were used in Breaking Bad, Weird Al Yancovic, and a variety of heavy metal.

I don’t use this system, mainly because if I did at points I’d go from “Yesterday” by the Beatles to the most hardcore techno you’ve ever heard

Nah, listening to albums is better imo. Ofc I’ll throw on some random tracks in a row sometimes but I’ll generally just listen through full albums.

I used to listen to more random songs when I was younger tho, maybe it’s something you grow out of.

When I was young I feel like I knew the names of every track on every (good) album, now I barely know the names of my top 10 tracks when I get my Wrapped list

I bought myself an MP3 player (hard to find a good one in the market nowadays) and it has like 800 songs. It’s really cool cause I can play all my songs offline and no ads (I will never pay for a subscription to listen to music)

You mean you haven’t listened to an artist that you connected with instantly in highschool and have generally only listened to them (and every side project they’ve ever made) for the past 15 years? Hmm.

I have a bunch of playlists based on eras of my life. Music that I heard in that era goes into that playlist. Different moods associated with each.

Then hit song radio to keep the vibes going. Finds more of the same and then you go again.

I’m the opposite. I don’t like playlists with random songs. I specifically listen to albums I like.
