I worked with a really cool guy once. We hit it off immediately.
He had worked there before and had come back. The boss rolls around and said “hey welcome back. We do a 7 point drug test now instead of the 5 point one we did back when we hired you. So just stop by LabCorp this week.”
The dude said For Sure 👍
Then the boss left and the dude turned to me and said “well, I guess you’ll never see me again.” And I haven’t.
I think about my past coworkers occasionally, mostly when we could use their help. However I can see all their faces but only a handful of names i can remember.
It’s almost like the only thing you had in common was the hatred for the company, your job and your bosses.
I always go to a coffee shop to study and there’s this one guy who understands my major and we bonded over it. He doesn’t work there anymore and I wish I got his number or something, it was really nice talking to someone who understands.
Had a coworker we’d get drinks every now and then, he invited me to a swingers club with him and his wife (I didn’t go, not my thing). He quits and we never spoke again. I still have his number but never considered calling him
I always feel a little bad for the co-workers who rely a bit too much on the office to be their friends… mostly because I’ve been there, there was about a year after lockdown where people had unlimited work from home privileges and I suddenly realised these people I’d had pizza parties and water cooler discussions with valued more time with their family and actual friends.
Ngl I think about them often lol if you can make me laugh at work lol
I’ve been at the same job for over a decade. I’ve seen so many henchmen come and go that I can’t even remember their numbers.
I see people talk about how sad it is not to see a coworker ever again but why not get their number? How much of a friend are they if you refuse to make any attempt to stay in touch? Seems like a friend out of convenience

Same as relationships, you could swear she was the love of your life and one day everything ends and you don’t know about her anymore and that’s it.
Yeah… you eat breakfast with him then find him dead in the shop from a heart attack a couple hours later and the next week interviewing his replacement.
I have a coffee mug with a team photo on it. I worked with them for a year, barely remember half of them.
I stay in touch with the ones I like. The internet makes this pretty easy to do.
I think about the cools ones.

I’m still in contact with my coworker from 3 jobs ago, we speak on the phone twice a year, before Easter and Christmas, with holiday greetings and to ask what the other one is up to.
I’ve got one guy that works at the same place as me. I’m a security guard and he is a housekeeper. He constantly asks me about the other security guards who have quit and says “so what are they up to?” And every single time, I tell him I have no clue. We don’t keep in touch.
Gotta remember their names after they leave, at least long enough to throw them under the bus next time the boss needs someone to blame.
True, but not entirely true. Never talk to them again maybe but there are definitely times where I will think back about almost anyone ive met in my life. So theres people who do think about them again, but it never goes past thinking about the past.
Im a nostalgic person for sure.

Sometimes I still think about this older lady who quit a while ago when I walk by a certain filing cabinet because one time she was bending over to get some files and I saw she was wearing a pink thong.
