I always liked Van Halen Everybody Wants Some as a speaker test.
Back In Black is a famously well-engineered album and the engineer deliberately centered the drums in the middle of the room and then arranged every other instrument and microphone to grt exactly the right amount of bleed through from the drums given their own acoustic properties and role in the mix.
All of which is to say, the guy might just have been a drummer who was easily satisfied but he could also very well have chosen an ideal test for how monitors would perform for his intended use.
Dudes a buyer, not a shopper. I respect that.
