My buddy will just turn his phone off the second he gets home. That is a habit I’d like to get into.

Who sleeps without silencing their phone that seems so weird, I learned to always silence my phone the first time I got waken up by a notification from some shitty app.
I mean, I think most phones have an “exception list” that usually includes your “favorites” by default. There’s nuance.
My phone has been solely on vibrate for any alert bar alarm clock since it was technologically possible.
Yep. This me. I have one contact who’s configured to ring, and he knows it, and that’s it. Sleep and rest is extremely important.

I have a very short list of people who bypass the do not disturb function when they call. Everybody else can leave a message.

I have no skills that could help someone in that kind of situation. My only first-aid knowledge is based on an hour-long exercise run by the company. Those who have had the experience know what I’m talking about.
My house is not a highly secure fortress.
I don’t own a gun, or know how to shoot one unless you’re talking about nail guns.
I mean, if you give me enough time I can BUILD you a fortress, but that’s not a midnight kinda call.

I used to sleep with my phone in airplane mode.
One night my Gf came home when I was already sleeping, but she had forgotten her key and couldn’t come in.
Despite our room window being open and her yelling on the top off her lungs, she had to call her brother in the end, and slept at his place.
It was 15 years ago, and I still have to endure that story.
Anyway, my phone is on sleep mode now at night, and my Gf is on the “let this call through” list
The entittlement to think other people have to deal with your shit 24/7
