60 hour work week? Nah fam. Life’s way too short to spend that amount of time at work.

Some of them don’t even shop for their own clothes… it’s an actual job and it pays better then engineer salaries.

It’s fine when 4 hours a day torwards the 60 is spent on the golf course. Another 2 a day for lunch. Then you have the 3 hours for dinner. All that’s left is 1 hour of emails and a couple of phone calls, and you’ve got a day. It’s pretty simple, really.

Why don’t you sacrifice your life for the profit of my business?

Even if I had other people to do that stuff for me, I still wouldn’t want to work 60 hours a week. Even 40 seems like it’s pushing it for most people.

I also bet they don’t actually WORK for 60 hours. Just present.

Apart from anything else it’s simply not true. Reduced working weekly hours increases productivity.

I work 60 hours a week and unfortunately, I have to cook all my meals and run my own stupid groceries back-and-forth

Quality over quantity. If people worked 12 hours work days their productivity would decrease significantly,

all these people arguing about longer work weeks do nothing but sit in mostly pointless meetings all day.

Oh cute, so they want more than half of your waking hours.

The Chicago Bears published an article about the [18-hour workday](https://www.chicagobears.com/news/day-in-the-life-bears-president-ceo-kevin-warren) of their CEO. It is filled with activities like reading the bible, praying, washing his car and watching football.

Nah, 30 is the real sweat spot. You get everything done that 40 would do, just less fucking around. Those 10 saved hours gives you the time to live a healthy life. Errands, workout, bring dog to dog park, pick up kids, cook, clean, sleep

EAT THE RICH !

I did 60s when I was younger. After 2 years I realized there’s more to life then just making money.

30h is absolute max

Most I’m willing to sacrifice for work is 6 hours a week, take it or leave it

as if any of them does any work

sure 60h is easy for execs. Most of that is “on calls”. Reviewing work. Delegating. Demanding etc. it’s easy to work 60h or be available 7-7 every day. Come home and dinner is ready from your cook or nanny or whatever, no laundry or cleaning. You have time with kids and don’t need weekend to catch up. You can actually enjoy your weekends. You can even spend 3-4 hrs on weekend sending out emails to stressed staff on what you need for Monday morning.

I mean, you’re right that 60 hours of work is doable if everything is done for you by hired help. But if we’re being honest, no CEO actually works that much. I mean look at Musk. He’s the CEO of three companies AND the president of the United States. Yet somehow he also spends 8 hours shitposting on twitter every day. He does 5-10 hours of work per week. And all of that time is basically just telling people below him a list of stuff he’d like to see done.

Absolutely key point there. you CAN do a 60 hour work week, if you have someone to take care of all of the unpaid tasks you need to do on a daily basis.

Pay me like the people who demand 60-hour weeks from their employees, and we might have a deal.

I’ll gladly work 60-hours per week, and more, for a year or two, if I get the same multimillion-dollar compensation package as them.

Many of them also don’t even drive to work. My boss ubers everywhere because he acknowledges that driving is a waste of time.

Pay me what they make and I would happily do 60 hours or more a week.

Make enough in 10 years to retire early and do whatever I want with my millions of dollars for the rest of my life.

Willing to bet they also don’t commute.

Depends on the circumstances. I work in rotations where I do spend 60h a week at work. 10 every day from monday to saturday, i go gym, bike or snowboard in the evenings, groceries, and meal prep.

But i am a free lancer, so i basically choose my own holidays, and i have given myself up to 2 months off before and typically 2 weeks. Work hard and play harder. But as a result the company i was hired by recently has started laying off their local workforce because contractors are just more bang for the buck.

My dog needs like 3 hours a day … 😞;thats why im lowperforming…

I once did 50 hours.
I cannot recommend it.

Golden, timeless rule: People who look spent can only tell you how to look and feel spent!

Back before I had a family, wife and kids, 60 hours was pretty normal and not a big deal. Even in a blue collar job. Plenty of time to do a couple loads of laundry and make some sandwiches and drink. But now days when I work through a weekend it’s like I lose out on a month of productivity at home. It’s just not sustainable.

When you’re building your own company, yes.

When you’re slaving away to make somebody else rich, no.

My old boss didn’t even know how to buy an Amazon gift card. He had to go to CVS with his wife.

If you work at google and make 600k total takehome a year plus all the perks ( food, onsite healthcare, etc) then yes i think 60hr per week is fair.
