Yes absolutely.
I started with a mattress, an old cupboard top as a table and two suitcases at 18 after I left the parentsโ house.
Gradually, things were added and even today, four years later, there are things that are not yet perfect.
The best there are friends or acquaintances who have things to give away, some I could then gradually replace in qualitatively better, but for the beginning it was perfect.
And many things are still here today and like to be used.
And yes it is a GREAT feeling to See the progress.
Social media is so fake, the reality was, I have been waiting for some offices to have financial resources at all for a progress.

I make decent money and *still* just use a mattress on the floor. I’ve even sold the missus on it by referring to it as “Japanese style”.
Can’t have monsters under the bed if there’s no “under the bed”.

Honestly the first bed frame that I bought that got me off the floor is still a big moment for me. I felt fine about sleeping on the floor but having the bed made me realize how bad sleeping on the floor was.

When my wife and I met my entire apt was a futon mattress on the ground, one small love seat I was given, a TV on an old night stand and a ps4. That’s literally all I had. I had been an addict for the better part of a decade and had nothing and started over at entry level warehouse work(where I met her). She had a 1 year old daughter with a total shit bag father who did nothing and was abusive. We put the crib in my bedroom and moved the futon mattress to the living room in front of the couch and slept there. We shared her car and had literally nothing else.
Step by step we moved up to a second car, 2br apt then a house 2 kids, etc. Now I own an unbelievably nice king sized bed I would never have dreamed of being able to buy, obviously plenty of furniture and things, I have an acre for my kids to play on with the car I just bought them for their birthday and all kinds of other stuff. My wife now does between 4 and 10 hours of work and otherwise stays home. I’m still with the same company but obviously nowhere near entry level anymore.
We often reflect back on it and while it’s been incredibly hard plenty of times it’s been an amazing journey and we are both really happy to have each other for it. But it was a series of small steps like this post, with a handful of big ones(the house, the cars). They just added up to a total lifestyle change when you put them all together.
Keep grinding and working towards what is important to you. It’s a bunch of small steps, just put in the work to get there.
