I am 41 now. I need to fix the granite counter, bricks are cracking on the outside of the house and my outside porch is starting to sink and crack.
This shit never ends. I get a promotion? Cool your health insurance is 62% higher this year. Get a bit more money? Inflation means you actually lost money.
This doesnโt stop at 35.

It’s a given that if something happens (or I just manage to save better) that gives me 500 extra dollars at the end of the month, then I know something that costs about $500 to fix is going to also come up in a few days.

Fuck I’m trying to find a management position somewhere so I can afford to have my own apartment for once. I hate how every time I make a move up in the world I effectively go nowhere.

Got to love that optimism it ends around 35. Maybe if you keel over at 35, but your funeral requires money too.

“Try to save money” is where a lot of people are lying. It’s more like “hopefully I’ll have money left over after I buy this bullshit.”

Washer broke, had to replace… stove broke, had to replace… then in winter the furnace died so I had to replace that… then the transmission for the car died in summer so I had to replace that. Right now I am waiting on parts to replace the armature for the wheels because when we go over 40 it starts to rattle. Never fucking ending. I got ~3000$ to my name when in the past when I was making LESS money I managed to save up to 8000$. Fuckin bullshit. But others have it worse so I try not to stress too much.

I’ve had a full time job for the past 10 years, been able to somehow some way keep over $1,000 in my checking account after bills each payday for the past 4 years, my girlfriend and I are moving into our first apartment together at the end of this month, I still have half rent at my old place, power, internet bills, etc. to pay on top of rent for the new apartment and all the pet deposit, admin fee stuff, etc., last week my car that I finished paying off in september sensed that I was already going to be broke and decided to run me a $1150 bill, then literally the very next day after I have to borrow a few hundred to pay that and get it back, decides it wants to go back to the shop for another $600 repair because fuck me I guess, gotta love not being able to afford food because cars can sense complacency and self destruct the moment you can’t afford it lol

I think once you start working, then it’s just problems from then on cause why is there always, something I didn’t plan for that requires half the amount I left for myself to spend๐
