George Russell said that the Williams environment (and track position) facilitated a spirit of experimental and Min-Maxing exploration. It was like you’ve got nothing to lose by treating qualifying and races sometimes as a form of test and it was OK to take gambles and few would fault you for trying out extreme measures.

It was growth he was convinced he would not have been able to do had he gone straight to Mercedes immediately in F1.

So look for Carlos to pull a few blinders here and there.

Rarely, and I mean RARELY do we see a person come from a top team, and be willing to help and heal a team to the top. Alonso and mclaren, ricciardo in his years in the midfield trying to find a perfect team, but I am at lack for a better example. Just saying speaks volumes on carlos how ready he is to help a midfield team.

EDIT : I haven’t conveyed it properly lol. What I’m saying is Carlos would’ve def chosen merc or rbr if he could, but he’s right at home in Williams, he’s been part of Ferrari, McLaren and Renault’s rejuvenations, and is very much one of f1’s better drivers for teams to look out for in development and all

Let’s not forget that Russell snuck a podium or two in a worse Williams, and this team under Vowles seems to have some spark. They’ve been held back by some of the worst performing drivers on the grid and will probably feel the pain of having so many damaged cars last year but now they’ve got two quick veteran drivers. I fully believe Williams will put themselves in position to take advantage of those weird little opportunities that arise one or twice per season. Carlos will get on the podium.

3. Left McClaren and went to Ferrari only to find out it became a midfield team (Although was able to make a comeback in the recent years).
4. Left Ferrari due to seat being taken by Lewis
