The dues I pay to my union are more than made up for by the increased wages and benefits I receive. If you’re paying into a unioin and aren’t receiving a living wage then complain to your union rep. That’s literally their job.

My mom was single raising 3 kids in a union job. I remember back to school events sponsored by the union where me and my siblings could get all our needed school supplies. They also sponsored events that took us to professional football games. And other things my single mom would have never been able to afford.
Amazon is only interested in its bottom line and increasing ROI for investors. Your salary and benefits are a deficit to be reduced as much as possible. The union ensures the the company remembers that you are a person who needs a living wage to thrive.

I love this argument, because it completely disregards the fact that unionized employees make 10-20% more than their non unionized counterparts. I’m unionized and I pay about 1.3% of my annual pay in union dues. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

It sucks, I have never had a job that had a union, and those jobs paid dick and made you feel bad and wouldn’t pay you for being out sick. Scum. Even my mom has been brainwashed into believing that unions aren’t good.

I was a single mom in the late ’90’s and was an IBEW member working for Verizon. I made $13+ dollars more per hour than the federal minimum wage. All of my families health insurance was covered 100%, as well. I was paid time & 1/2 for anything over 8 hrs a day and over 40 hrs per week. I was paid double time on Sundays & holidays and when I left Verizon I was given a great “early retirement” package. I was able to pull myself out of a cycle of poverty that my parents grew up in, as well as their parents & grandparents. I trust unions much more than I trust CEO’s of huge corporations when it comes to creating living wages. This person is either an idiot or a paid shill.

Amazon used to have a website for their warehouse employees where you could report your coworkers for talking about unionization.

So…’she’ is barely scraping by…and expects to JOIN a union, but not PAY the dues, and – I’m guessing – expects all the benefits that come from being a union member.
Maybe if her (alleged) employer paid a not-scraping-by wage, she wouldn’t need to worry about union dues.
Just sayin’

If they’re anti-union they’re anti-worker. This is the lie that’s been propagated by corporate America since the development of trade unions. That lie has helped CEO pay raise from about 25 Xs employee pay to 750 Xs. Couple that with trust fund share holders and you have an inverted funnel of wealth to the top of the structure where it’s hoarded instead of returned to the economy. You’ve known this forever and chose to ignore it for The American Dream of individual success. Enjoy sleeping in the corporacratic bed you’ve made.

I mean ya I’m gonna get paid MUCH more as a union member, and the benefits alone make the dues a bargain, but I have to pay for this?
No thanks. I’ll stick to my poverty wages and mistreatment by my bosses.
Can you belive that? That want me to pay dues, so I can make at least 15-20% more per check, all the benefits and perks I’ve been missing out on AND at the very least my bosses can’t take advantage of me cuz I’m protected by a union… crazy right
