I foraged 7 bags of leaves from my lawn. I get it.
I would leave them at the foot of a tree where you think animals that would like them can find them.
So in Germany near Cologne is a Haribo (known for their gummybears) store that trades chestnuts & acorns for their products. They use the seeds to feed wildlife.
10kg chestnuts/5kg acorns =1kg haribo goods
This year they collected 197tons chestnuts and 96tons acorns. People come with wheelbarrows full and line up.
Your brother has just over 10kg here, he could have gotten some sweet yummies for that
