My partner had no pets when I met him. Now he runs a cat shelter with me ♥️

A little backstory on Sprout, the kitten in the picture: he’s 7 weeks old but desperately underweight because he was horribly malnourished at his first home. He was taken from his mum too early, fed treats and inappropriate food instead of formula and kitten mousse, and riddled with fleas and worms.

He also has cerebellar hypoplasia, aka wobbly cat syndrome, a condition my little cat shelter in the UK specialises in. We’ve been working day and night to keep him alive and get his weight up, and he’s now feeling well enough to be silly, as you can see in the photo. I’m so proud of his progress, and my wonderful partner who drove 4 hours to get him when he needed emergency care. I am truly blessed with these two in my life.

Love it! My husband never had pets growing up. He was once attacked by a dog as a kid. I told him, “I love you but my animals are very important to me so you’re going to have to navigate and manage or this won’t work.” He opted to give it a try. Biggest animal lover ever now. He wanted a puppy. I told him he was nuts. Adult dogs are where it’s at, but he insisted. So I found a rescue puppy for us. That dog adores him and the feeling is mutual ❤️ (He doesn’t exactly love the birds, but he tolerates them. They’re too twitchy and bitey for him even though one of them has decided hubs is his favorite human 😂)
