Plus there is the social proof effect… shows that at least some other women are/were interested in you and that you were good enough that she wanted to marry you. Sign of credibility.
To those who wonder why this works. The answer is EGO. I would not recommend trying for a serious relationship with women who fall for this as they are usually walking red flags
I got one ring I like, usually wear it on my middle finger because it won’t fit anywhere else. Women come to hit on me at bars just to tell me to “take that thing off so we can have fun” honestly disgusting.
Why would those women support a guy cheating on his wife
The so called wedding ring effect has been studied and the most accepted theories are that 1. presumably a married man is “safe” (in that they have proven they’ve been in a relationship with a woman before long enough to marry) and 2. they’ve gained enough social capital to be approved by other women. Still shitty, but makes biological and social sense.
After my divorce I would put on my wedding ring and tell anyone that inquired that I was a widower… it was pretty successful.
Same with work. Being employed makes it easier to sleep with women, it also makes you more attractive to other employers.

It is an easy way to know if a man has any value. If they are married then it means at least one other woman has given them an endorsement.
Although how somebody being a cheater does not instantly label them as a bastard is beyond me.

I can’t wear a ring to work and I don’t bother to wear it at other times. THAT must by women aren’t throwing themselves at me all the time.
The ring/being taken actually intrigues a lot of women because it’s like a lot of woman already did the work for them regarding if the man is trustworthy and a good enough man to marry. Of course, this is a heuristic and liable to error.
verification from another woman gives certain “quality guarantees” of a man. Plus the thirst for “adventure” is also a factor, and the desire to turn a “good husband” into “one who fell into sin because of her” adds a challenge.
Cynically speaking, this is a pretty good strategy for finding a woman for one night, but you won’t find a long-term partner this way
