It sucks graduating into this economy looking for a job

Mid 20’s here. Still living with the fam because getting to keep almost my whole paycheck is nice. And to find a place with roommates that’s takes at least half my paycheck sounds stressful.

Man, I see in Fight Club the strongest and smartest men who’ve ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see it squandered. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables – slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don’t need. We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our great war is a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives. We’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars, but we won’t. We’re slowly learning that fact. And we’re very, very pissed off.


The good news is, it’s going to get worse.

Son recently finished high school, one of the more down to earth teachers gave a speech – was realistic about the state of the worlds economy and advised students that if they were going to polytechnic or university that it was much cheaper to stay at home than move out, so stay home for a few years and pay a bit of board to your parents. We don’t mind if our son does..he can study, save some money and have a nice warm home.
