Not Azealia Banks making sense

Imagine you’re homeless or close to homeless and thinking to yourself “damn, if I could just stop eating all these sour patch kids, I’d be fine.”

Why does Trump hate Americans? 

Hey remember when Azealia Banks revealed she actually voted for Trump. Dumb dumb this is what you voted for. 

I’m single and vegetarian. When I grocery shop I try my best to get healthy items. Lots of rice and frozen veggies for me. I started juicing around Thanksgiving but juicing NOW? Too expensive. And I was using just celery, lemons, ginger, and cucumbers. Everything costs way more now. I don’t even get a lot of tofu anymore because it also doubled in price. So yeah a bag of off brand chips and energy drink becomes a meal sadly. Not the best but after walking around the store trying to find cheap vegan foods now? It’s kinda depressing.

RFK Jr and that temu Plankton worm in his head really are off the shits with this. People on budgets are already told they don’t deserve basic decency and now you’re gonna come after chips and soda??? Most places are food deserts! Only Dollar Trees and Family Dollars. Fresh healthy food needs major work to cook and doesn’t last long. He and everyone else acts like eating healthy is easy. It’s costly AND time consuming and you need certain tools and appliances plus knowledge of how to cook. That’s not universal.

I wish the rich would just fuck off and be decent for a week! Just leave people alone! You’re worried about sugary foods and pronouns in emails and the country is literally being ran by a South African Nazi! America needs to get their shit together. Banning poor people from snacks ain’t fucking it.

There’s many people in this country who don’t have a grocery store or farmers market within reasonable distance in their area.

Is this a good thing *in theory?* Yes. But in practice, without any way to get ALL Americans affordable, reasonable, and reliable access to fresh produce then this is just going to hurt the ones who need these foods when there’s no better option.

I’m not sure how people why people are hating on this so much. We have an obesity epidemic in our country and helping push the needle in a healthier direction is much needed. Let people buy raw ingredients (sugar included) but limiting people’s access to known terrible foods is not the worst thing. Assuming they can find a way for healthier foods to be more cost effective too. 

Maybe I’m misguided though, I understand the argument against it to a degree. 

Tbh I’ve always kinda liked her. Kinda like Kanye pre-2018… crazy but I sort of agree.

Is it not the case that America has an issue with food deserts. As in areas that lack access to healthy foods and fresh produce. Coincidentally the same areas in which people are more likely to use food stamps. If this goes through without creating a plan to increase the amount of healthy alternatives won’t people just end up starving. Or am I wrong in my understanding?

I don’t hate the general idea of this. But don’t know the details of how it will be executed and it wouldn’t be a priority of mine right now.

I worked as a grocery store clerk in my high school and college years in a small impoverished town. It often feels like the majority of food stamps were going towards carts full of chips, soda, cookies, snack brands… Lots of expensive meat and seafood. There is definitely tax money being wasted there.

The way WIC works makes a lot more sense to me. You’re limited to: Bread, Eggs, Milk, Peanut Butter, Cereal without high sugar, produce, etc. Meat not exceeding $/lb. Basic needs. Nutrition. Those kind of products make more sense when it comes to tax payer money.

But I’ve said this on reddit before and have been down voted and cursed out like I’m suggesting that people on food stamps should be eating dog food. Clearly not.

However, I would agree this food stamp issue would not be a priority of mine. When I see issues with the government spending going out of control, more debt, I don’t immediately go after the poor. I don’t blame the poor. It’s just the Republican state of things. *Republicans are in control, quick go after the poor. They’re ruining everything for middle class Americans like you.* While simultaneously creating a system where the ultra rich can do 10x the damage in a system that welcomes exploitation when they do it.

I would fix the problems from the top down. Not the bottom up.

They can still buy it, just not with taxpayer dollars, which sounds reasonable to me. The Federal Government shouldn’t be subsidizing junk food with tax dollars that are allocated for program who’s stated goal is providing quality nutrient rich food to low income individuals.

You’re telling me poors are *daring* to eat food rather than their government issued monthly slop sacks??
