Corona stole 2.5 years of our lives. I hope it won’t happen again.
That 100’s turned into Millions
i remember the moment covid became very real very distinctly –i’d come into contact with someone who’d been traveling abroad and i was feeling very poorly. i called the number i was supposed to, explained the situation and my symptoms and they told me i needed to sequester myself.
because the people i worked for were total asses, i had to go *in* to explain the situation. this was before masks were widely available or *anything*. everyone thought it was just a flu. my managers told me to my face i was over-reacting and tried to make me feel like shit for calling in sick for a prolonged basis. they told me it was going to be over in a few days.
i told them they were wrong, that we were looking at a really bad time. they rolled their eyes and told me to go.
one day later the world shut down and stayed shut for what felt like *ever*. i *really* enjoyed pointing out how wrong they were. was it petty? sure. but they’d gone out of their way to make me feel like i was totally overreacting.
that first bout of covid was so bad i had to have friends buy me groceries because i was bedridden.
tl;dr? fuck covid deniers, even now.
I don’t know about anyone else but I’ve never been the same since 2020 and still trying to get my mental health back to how it was before.
I remember driving to work December 2019/January 2020 and the news on Radio 4 (I think it was Nick Robinson) said “Six people in China have contracted a mystery virus” and thinking “jeez, that’s a lil weird, hope they get well soon.”
Fml, did I not know.
If those 6 people had just stayed where they were and sought medical attention…

What a story that was and how things changed pretty quickly for all of us is just unbelievable.
Then I got COVID in June 2020 and oh boy what experience that was…
I know few people that think it was a hoax, government spreading illness with 5G, trying to control people’s minds, you know the usual crazy tinfoil hat mambo jumbo.
And yet, no proper investigation into its origins, and no real preparation for a future event of this magnitude.
Shameful really
I remember when it was first kicking off and we had been asked by the exec team to develop contingency and continuity plans for the processes in our unit. I vividly remember sitting in the meeting and saying ‘Its hysteria, nothing’s gonna happen. This is no different to the swine flu or bird flu panics’. Yeah, not my strongest prediction.

Time runs so goddamn fast since COVID happened I swear, the fact that kids that were 13 when covid started are now adults scares me… Like where did the 5 years go??
Ugh, happy anniversary, everyone.
Man it was so crazy watching it unfold in real time. I remember my first time hearing about it was on wallstreetbets while sitting in the mess hall at college. Then more and more news kept popping up about it over time. Spring break happened and I went home. Towards the end of the week the school sent out an email telling us spring break would be extended a week out of caution. Then towards the end of the second week they sent another email telling all the students that we needed to come grab our stuff from our dorms and go home (unless we had an exception) and that we wouldn’t be allowed to return due to Covid. Classes didn’t resume for me until around April while all the professors figured out how to turn their in person classes into online classes. And the rest is history. What a crazy thing to live through and to think it was 5 years ago
I don’t know, but I think this virus affected uss both good and bad, however this is shit

So excited to tell my kids how this pandemic was tough I was climbing mountains just to be safe we were hungry to the point we started eating each other we couldn’t leave the house and people went crazy it was the worse pandemic you will ever see. Seems cool acting like it was really this tough to my kid.

But is today world really that different? I feel like people are forgetting covid times. It was 2-3 years ago. Nothing changed in big scale
A world that broke people’s brains so much that Trump seized the opportunity to politicize it and has caused the political rift we see now.
