If I may? Spelling ‘boomer’ but not spelling the n-word is the clearest signal yet that they are NOT the same.
If you’re comparing two words and you won’t even say one of them, that one is the worse one. And they certainly ain’t equal.

Remember when Baby Boomers were enslaved by other generations and the term Boomer was used to repress them and keep them “in their place”?

boomer bob is triggered. that’s his button. but that false equivalency is somewhat typical of his (my) generation. the only real equivalency here, is that age and race are both, “accidents of birth”. we don’t have any control over when we were born, or what race we are

Maybe if name for your group become so bad you don’t want to asiossate with the name, you should rethink what your group did to deserve it, and why YOU think it’s a slur.
Is it not meant as an insult? A signal that you consider a member of this group less than you? The reason you don’t have nice things? And therefore your enemy? It just takes a while for the years of hate to settle into a word. Give it time.
